Hi all,
Long time reader - first time poster...
I've Flashed my 047dj Hitachi drive with the latest firmware (iXtreme1.4 Hitachi C4EVA) and have been attempting to back up my existing games.
Currently I haven't been able have my drive recognize a single disk I've burned. I continually get the error "unrecognizable disk" after the xbox attempts to read the disk I've placed in its tray.
I've followed Metaphaze's Guide to backing up the game:

I use the getss.exe file in the iXtreme tool pack to extract the Security Sector.
I use Wxripper with my laptop's Dvd drive using this tutorial to dump the game .iso:

I use Xbox 360 SS Merger v1.7b to merge the SS and .iso to create the .dvd file
Finally I have an external Pioneer Burner 113 which I've used to burn Verbatim +r DL of the .dvd file with Imgburn 2.4x.
I've done this about 20 times (made a lot of coaster) with same variations here and there. I'm not overly concerned with ensuring my backups are going to keep me from getting banned (having proper stealth files) since this is my second xbox which I will not be going online with. First thing is first - I just want to get my backups working properly.
I've cleaned the dvd lens and checked the pot and the resistance is within the appropriate range. The xbox reads the actual disks with no problem.
I've tried Optiarc dvd burner with appropriate dvd-rom book type and I've tried a Samsung burner with dvd-rom book type setting.
What is going on? Is this an issue with my burner? An issue with my xbox dvd drive? Could this be a problem with my Security Sector?
I'm looking for any kind of help... thanks!

So went to tweak the pot additionally and reduced the resistance from 3.8 to 3.02 and now my backups work!
Hooray!
we'll see how long my laser lasts at this setting...
Thanks!!
