My Drive has suddenly stopped reading CD-RW's!

Why is that?

It just spins for a second, then stops again, and says "Open Tray."

It does it will all CD-RW I try now. It used to work perfect!

this is most likely due to the laser dying. RW's are low quality, and each erase/write reduces the quality of the disc. in the end, that means the laser has to work harder to read the disc. if you are constantly burning CD-RW's, i would suggest that you invest in an external HDD, or a 2Gb Thumb Drive.

also, that laser will need replacing soon
