I have Hitachi iXtreme 1.2 rev 2 firmware on the Xbox 360, burned using Imgburn and Verbatim DL disc (made in Singapore) at 2.4x
Everything had been fine with the backups until recently I updated the 111D firmware to Dangerous Brothers 8.29 INT for the bitsetting function. However, after that, I continuously get unplayable disc errors from the backups burned after the flash. The firmware flash was successful, as were the burns, but the discs would give "unplayable disc" error in the Xbox.
The bad burns seem to to happen at random right now, some attempts would result in a working burn, but most attempts would produce a burn with "unplayable disc" error. This never happened before I flashed the 111D and all my backups created before the firmware flash are still working 100% so I know the laser on the Xbox 360 isn't dying.
Things I've tried to fix it:
-Flashing to another version of the DB firmware.(8.15, 8.19)
-Crossflashing to 111L.
-Flashing it back to the Pioneer firmware found on DB's website (1.29)
-Do a clean install of windows
-Switching to another media (Phillips media seemed to produce more working burns than verbatim, but not much better)
-Switching to CloneCD
I'm pretty sure it's only after the firmware flash that this started happening but I can't be entirely sure that the firmware flash caused it.
Has anyone else experienced this? What could possibly cause this? Is there anyway to fix it? Is there anyway for me to detect what the difference is between the working discs and non-working ones so I can pin-point the problem?

In my opinion, in the uk there is little to no difference in mis and mii try ordering some more verbs I used to get mine from svp but after the dodgy batch (three 10 packs), I avoided them for a while and bought from dvdshop online instead. I've had 2 orders off them now and they are all mis and work perfect on hitachis like 46 to 59. The dodgy ones look different too bad= DVD+R DL\VERBATIM. Good= VERBATIM wrote on its own at the top of the disc.

can you verify that the Memorex (Model: 32025715 | SKU: 8409377) are the ones that you use?
For the record, I have tried Verbatim 6x DVD+R DL, Sony DVD+R DL, HP DVD+R DL .
have not had a single successful boot from any of these.

India Price = $39 for 20 . Singapore=$41 for 15 (ouch).
First backup made with Singapore version worked, so problem solved.

Actually you got it wrong. The MII (Made In India) discs are 2.4x official rated but can be oversped on most burners to 6x or 8x and the MIS (Made In Singapore) discs are 8x official rated but can be oversped to 10x on some burners. Hence the reason why you see so many of us refer to the 2.4x official and 8x official rated Verbatims. Anyways, it's your own fault for getting ripped off on the media. We have a nice long thread in this forum dedicated to nothing but good deals on DL Verbatim media. Buy.com currently has a screaming deal on those 8x official DL Verbatim 15 packs (once again guaranteed to be MIS). $31.49 shipped for the 15 pack right off the bat and if you setup a new google checkout account they will knock $10 right off of that (no rebates to screw around with.) So $21.49 shipped to your door for the 15 pack and then when you receive them they have a $6 MIR on top of that. So you could potentially get this 15 pack for $15.49 shipped or roughly $1.04 a disc when all is said and done.
