Lately, i started having issues with the newer games. I've been able to burn older games and plays with no problem.
I have a Hitachi 78fk flashed with the Xtreme firmware (Unknown version) as someone did it for me. I burn the ISOs with Pioneer DVD+RW DL which automatically sets booktype to DVD-ROM using Verbatim media with the Samsung SH-162C flashed with Kreon firmware. Software I use is Xbox Backup Creator 2.5 with burn speed of 2.4x.
For Halo 3, the main menu and everything loads perfectly, but when I play the story or solo mission, it loads the cut-scenes with no problem and after the cut-scene before playing the first level, i get an "Unreadable Disc error" stating to clean my disc even though the disc is not scratched. I'm able to go to the main menu without the Hard Drive on. If i put the Hard Drive on, it'll freeze at the Microsoft Game Studios logo and won't go to the main menu. Now the original of course plays fine with no problems. Did you guys have this problem?
For Call of Duty 4, the game freezes at the Infinity Ward logo. I cannot even get to the main menu. I tried reburning it again with the Splitvid option and then i get an "Unreadable Error. Clean Disc" and doesn't even load the logo. What's going on?
I have an old firmware that was flashed like 5 months or more ago. Does it have to do with an older firmware and newer games have more protection?? Please help
Do i have to upgrade the firmware to play these games or is it because i have a Hitachi 78fk drive??
Please help guys. I would really appreciate it.

Do all your previous backups still work ok? If so, then it's not the drive. Do another backup of a game which works and try that. Let me know what happens.

All of my previous backups still work. It's just for the newer games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4. I'm just thinking that it might have improved protection.
Using Xbox Backup Creator, all the backups that i've made so far passes the stealth check (DMI, SS, etc.) as well with XDVD Mulleter. One thing i did notice is that the read speed is automatically set to 12x for Xbox Backup Creator 2.5. Maybe i should rip the games with a slower read speed like 4x. Could that be the issue, too?
Would it be better to upgrade my firmware to be able to play the newer games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4?

My drive is a samsung! Ive tweaked the laser from 3.2 all the way down to 2.4, still with no success! All other games work flawlessly, im using Verbatims burning at 1x!
I get disc unreadable at EXACTLY the same part, just after the cut scene, so are many many others!
I think its time for a new dvd drive in my 360 as well as a new burner! Both are aging now...
Nothing but problems lately with my 360!

What drive are you using to backup the games? Kreon, or your 360 drive?
Definitely try a slower speed reading - it can't hurt

the reason i bring up the region free firmware is that for some reason, the quality of the burns are much better when using the dangerous brothers firmware vs regular pioneer. when testing a backup on a benq dvd-rw (one of the best in terms of getting a good scan on a pc) the regular pioneer firmware would give me a quality of 0%, where the dangerous brothers would give me a quality of 94%+, in comparison, store bought pressed movies would give me a quality of 95-97%, so my backups are about as good as they can get. and i have done quality tests burning at different speeds, and 4x is the sweet spot - better than any other
before i switched the burner firmware, my backup would hiccup a little on rb6:v but my original would not. after upgrading to the dangerous brothers firmware, the backup was identical to the original - no hiccups at all
