Title: Write Error Please Help
Post by: chrisvenn on February 04, 2020, 07:50:00 AM
Hi guys im quite new to this and have been registered here for awhile but learning by reading up on the guides and searching through the forums the best i can. I thought i had managed to grasp it all but got a write error on my 1st burn so thought i best ask for a little bit of help if you dont mind?
I know i will look like a noob asking questions but please believe me when i say i have searched and wished i could find the answer myself.
Anyways ive ripped my original copy of MOHA using my Samsung DVD drive with Kreon V0.81 firmware to my harddrive using XBox backup Creator 2.6 following your back up guide (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=588763)
But when i come to write it with imgburn i get this write error see link below:
the DVD burner im using is LITE-On DVDRW SOHW-1633S BSOC
Ive set imgburn up so its set the bitsetting up on my Lite on drive to DVD-ROM
Im also using Verbatim DVD+R DL media
Oh and i left splitvid ticked on xbox backup creator is this wise to leave this on?
Hope thats all the info you guys need?
Has anyone got any idea whats going wrong?
Thanks alot

If your using good media which you are, and i can see your burning at 2x which is good, i would then guess it to be the DVD burner at fault. Check all connections and try again, if that dont work then id think about investing in another burner.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, but im not much of a fan of the Pioneer burners, i had a 111D and i got about 25 or 30 burns out of it before it died. NEC on the other hand seem to last alot longer, im currently using an NEC Optiarc AD-7170s SATA burner, and its been burning very well for about 6 months now, and for £23 its a bargain.

yes, your burner . liteon 1633 was amongst the first attempt at DVD DL (only 2.4x speed) and is far from optimal for DL burning.
I am the opposite of previous poster (sorry), had bad experience with nec (in fact a sony made by nec) but pioneer and liteon gave me great performance (still have a A05 in use !!!). I would vote pioneer 112 and if sata is required the Liteon,
That said, like anything else if you get unlucky and get a bad unit (nec, pioneer)...

So it might not be my burner then if u have a pioneer and get the same write error with imgburn.
Has any1 else anything i should try before changing my burner? (also if i have to get a pioneer is the link a few posts above one that will burn them?)
Edem: Have u made back-ups before or is this your 1st try aswell? If it is there might be somthing we both are doing wrong, but what that is i dont know. Would it be anything to do with splitvid?

Ive had another thought if i update the firmware on the liteon (is that possible) will it make it any better?

It definitely could make a difference so I would give it a shot. On a side note, another vote for the Pioneer here.
