Title: Safe To Accept Offline Updates For These Games…?
Post by: SlipperyBits on October 06, 2007, 11:33:00 PM
Hi, I have a TS ms28 drive with, I believe extreme 5.2. I have just made back-ups of the following games; Halo 3, Bioshock, Flatout Ultimate Carnage and Stranglehold. I need people to confirm that it is safe to accept the updates that the games require before playing. I do not use my 360 online and never have. These are just offline updates the game asks you to accept after inserting the DVD.

My local Blockbuster guy (in Aus) has said that MS are now legally able to include in the update some device that can detect modded firmware and brick consoles after updates have been accepted, though he hasn’t heard of it actually happening yet. I am chomping at the bit to try out these new games, but will not risk turning my beloved console into a 4lb paperweight.

I have searched various 360 hacking forums meticulously for this info but have found nothing relating to these games. Can someone help me please?

The question I would have to ask is how come the original games you backed up from did not update the console? Don't tell me you bought the games and never even tried them?
Perhaps your man at Blockbuster is quite right to try and frighten you off.
They don't want people hiring games and copying them any more than XS does.
