I just flashed my 360 dvd rom, and now Im trying to back up my games, I've tried 2 programs, XBC V2.4 and Schtrom360XtractV3.2.
WIth XBC I put the disc in, but the start button is greyed out..... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif)
And with Schtrom360XtractV3.2 when I put the disc in and try to start it it tells me, only xbox backup extraction is supported on this drive.
What am I doing wrong, I build PC's for a living, so I have tried on about 4 different pc's.
Do I have to hook up my 360 dvd drive to extract the file? And if so how do I? I tried that and the pc doesn't recognize it, I have looked through the tutorial several times and didn't see anything about this.

you need to read the pin topics, the one called Backup Faq - Everything* You Need To Know PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS! , only 4 pc drives can extract X360 (IDE = SH-D162C and TS-H352C; SATA =SH-D163A and TS-H353A ).
If you want to do it with your x360 drive you need to have a samsung, all that was in the pin.
you can start with this excellentdocument and this section ( Where To Find Help, Info, Tools For The XS Newbie ).

ok, well it looks like I wont be using my pc dvd drive, but I do have a samsung dvd drive in my 360, my issue is I can't seem to get my pc to recognize it, do I have to use a pc with a VIA chipset, since I used then when I flashed the drive, or just a direct link to how to get it to recognize it would be nice, since I have looked through those tutorials and couldn't find anything.

page 72 of the "excellent document" tells how to use a samsung to backup.
