Hey guys!
I have searched the forum for a day now, hoping to find something similar to my problem, but could'nt find it.
I a n00b when it comes to backing up games and flashing, therefore i got another guy to do it for me. I have a hitachi drive, dont know what revision but i dont know if it matters. I have a Pioneer DVR-K16 burner in my laptop that i use for backing up games. I have followed the guides on this site think i have done it right. What happens when i pop my backed up games (burned on verbatim dvd+r dl) is that i hear the drive spinning up and then a black screen followed by the "unreadable disc" error. I have checked both my backed up games on my pc and they both have booktype set to DVD-ROM as they should. Has anyone got a clue what might be wrong? Could it be my laptop burner? Is there anyway to check if my drive is flashed properly, with a backed up movie or something like that? I would like to know whether or not it could be due to the flash. But since the originals are working just great, i am kinda ruling that out. Any help would be much appreciated, as i am really frustrated atm...
Cheers!

How have you done the backup?
-for ss.bin which software & drive
-for game.iso which software & drive
-how was it merged
Have you tested you image against the burn ( How to verify a burn )

I dont know which X360 drive model i have since i did not perform the flash myself. Is there anyway to check without taking the drive apart?
The images were burned using ImgBurn with the correct layer break set. The images were verified with imgburn afterwards and checked out well.
The merging of SS.bin was done using SS Merger V1.6.
Is there anyway to check if the image is corrupted or the SS hasnt been merged properly?

how have you extracted the game partition? (which method)
how have you extracted the ss.bin?
To merge try SSmerger1.7b ,
what size are the file before and after ssmerger?

To be honest i dont know which method was used, i got my buddy to do it on his computer since i am really picky about not wanting to open up my xbox. But i know for a fact that he made numerous good backups before. Can it have something to do with my drive not supporting bitsetting? And what does that mean exactly? Since it was verified in imgburn i cant really see any other explanation that it has to be the burner. I mean it is a dodgy laptop burner, not sure how good it is. Does the xbox360 support backed up dvd movies with fw patching? So maybe i could try burning a dvd and see if that works?

Sorry we only help people who are doing the whole backup themself.
It would make things way too easy for people to use this site to get help on image of questionable origin.
closed and do not post again about backup made by others,
