Title: Xbox Backup Creator 2.4 Burn Times.
Post by: ModsINUtah on March 03, 2007, 05:30:00 PM
Since last week my burn times are at or over an hour. I used to burn in 32-38 minutes. I know one of the moderators said my drive may be in PIO and not DMA but I cannot find where to switch it back in Device manager, I know where it used to be in Windows 98 :-) thought same place, on the device tab.

I have the pioneer 111 and amd 3800 with 2gb ram,

I have tried burning at 8x, no dice, and 6x. I have burned at 4x, and 2,4x with ease, seems like when you try to burn faster the drive defaults you to 1x...

Any ideas?

You need to know where you installed you burner (Primary IDE channel or secondary), and the position on the channel (master or slave). If you do not know, there are tools like nero info tool (in configuration tab) that will tell you what is installed where.

Then go in control panel/system/hardware/device manager/IDE controllers
right click on the channel (primary/secondary depending on your burner position)
and select properties/advanced settings
Choose the proper device (0 is master , 1 is slave) and in should say Ultra DMA Mode x.
if not in the transfer mode, select DMA if available.

I found in device manager, under Secondary IDE channel Device 0

DEVICE TYPE Auto Detection
Tranfers Mode DMA if Available
CURRENT TRANSFER MODE  PIO

Hmm, it says its trying DMA but defaulting to PIO... Ill try what you listed above soon as this disk is finished
