I will try to give more or less the same info,

First it is definitely the easiest method, the options are summarized here.

Basically, if you get a shd162c you can do your backup of X360 (and xbox1 games to be used on a x360) with one click in XBCreator. Then burn with Imgburn and play.

If not you need to open you x360 each time to access its dvd Drive.

IDE connects your computer motherboard to peripherals like DVD drive, HD, etc.  It's been around for nearly 20 years.  SATA is a relatively new and is supposed to be faster.  The cables are smaller and thinner than the IDE cables.

Check inside your computer to see if you have a SATA and/or IDE controller.  Older systems may only have an IDE controller, although you can purchase a SATA controller as an add-on which comes in handy for flashing your 360 drive.  Newer systems may have both SATA and IDE.

So depending on your computer system, you should make your purchasing decision.

^ Exactly  smile.gif , note that even if sata is a quicker in terms of transfer rate, for that type of application it would not make a difference.

I would just get the IDE drive.  You wont notice much of a difference between the 2 with the dvd drive being sata.  I would leave a sata slot open for later additions of harddrives which are more important.  you can use this IDE drive to replace a standard DVD drive if you have one in your system already.  You will also need a burner to, you should get the pioneer 111d.  Then you can do all your backing up in Xbox backup creator.  Click n rip, click n burn pretty much with that program.

many people have it working on USB,A few had problems,

some had to connect it IDE to flash it with kreon, then it would work in the USB enclosure

I bought the SH-D162C, flashed it, but WOW!  Its amazing.  No need to open up my xbox everytime i get a new game now

Take the time wink.gif to explorer the pinned section at the top of the forum ( Backup Faq - Everything* You Need To Know PLEASE READ BEFORE ASKING QUESTIONS! ) as many questions are covered there.

I will also direct you to the following sections.
You will find a very good overview document here

Firmware and flashing your firmware is here ( look at the Releases, Tuturial And Guides at the top and read a lot).

Also look at the newbie section for most of the questions we all have when we begin wink.gif.

and as far as the pioneer it does work external , but I always prefer my burner to be connect straight IDE on the MB (just personal).

also you already had a post on similar topic, better continue on that one.
