Title: Making, Burning Backups With Linux
Post by: xboxbman on January 26, 2007, 03:15:00 PM
A little help for the few fellow linux users out there.  I see (and post) questions about doing things in linux with regards to 360 backups, and get lots of lookers but no answers.

A simple terminal command to burn an iso, just cut and paste:
growisofs -use-the-force-luke=dao -use-the-force-luke=break:1913760  -dvd-compat -speed=2 -Z /dev/hda=IMAGE.000

replace IMAGE.OOO with whatever your backup file is called, and of course /dev/hda with the mount-point of your burner.

IMGburn will work with Wine, but you need to get wine setup properly.  I find setting Wine to Windows 4.0 or NT works, otherwise IMGburn won't detect my burner in XP or 2000.  I think it might have something more to do with the individual setup of your PC.

And a simple tool for making backups:

I haven't tried it yet, just got my 360 last week, but i've been told it works well.  (Been using my friend's windows machine to backup my games)

I hope this helps people out.
