Title: Backups Won't Read After Playing A Short Period Of Time.
Post by: scottweiland on December 27, 2006, 01:40:00 AM
Hello,

I can put a backup disk in the 360 and it will play fine for a while.  After a short time (10 min or so) I get a dirty disk error.  At that point I cannot play any backups, but I can play the originals just fine.  I've used Xtreme 5.0B and now I'm using 4.2B.  I have a good hardware, and media setup (see signature below) so I am hoping someone has an idea what this could be from other than a heat related issue.

Thanks!
Scott

I'm having similar trouble

Burning on a BenQ 1650 w/ DVD Decrypter on HP DVD+R DL

I get a much longer play time before the error if I use manual layerbreak, (w/o it, the game will error in the exact same place, w/ it is at random loading scenes) but it still comes eventually

In another subforum I was told to try running the game (Dead Rising, I haven't tried any other back ups yet) I get the error in on FULL SPEED as I am flashed with 4.2b ATM.... I'm going to try that when I get home, as well as pick up some Verbatim discs to try.... I'll post up here if either solves the problem

I tried the pot tweak and found the resistance to have been set very high (4.5k) on my DVD-ROM.  I lowered it little by little and got to 3.11k.  It still didn't work so I'm going to try the new laser.

I know that the rubber band trick fixes some of the goofy compatibility issues with the 360.

I've been searching the forum and the internet about the rubber band trick.  All I come up with is people saying to do the "rubber band trick."  Nothing about how to actually do it.  Anyone know where there is a post / webpage that explains how to do it.

Thanks!
Scott

Is there a written tutorial or something that doesn't play rap in the background.   Perhaps it tells you something about where and how to put it on...  Why it works...  Just something other than this....

Thanks again.

I just flashed with the 5.1C firmware and now my backups are working great.  No more Dirty Disk Errors.  This is only after a few hours of playing.  Before I could only play 10 - 30min before the error would pop up and it would usually take a few tries to even get the game to load.  Hope it stays this way.

My new xbox360 just 2 weeks old... MS28, X51C, Verbatim... and I had same problem as you.

Tonight I did the rubber band trick, right now everything works fine!
(Dead Rising in high speed!)

Maybe next time you can give it a try if it happen again.
