Title: Nec-35xx Failed Pioneer 111d $37 From Newegg = Perfect

I have a hitachi 47 in the xbox360. put on the 7 in 1 firmware.backed up a copy of madden 07
burnt with nec-3550 would not boot. tried every way.
The image on the disk was fine but as others have said the nec and hitachi are mortal enemies.
So after 1 burn as if I had to see for myself I took the advise of so many helpfull post that I spent 6 hours or so reading on all topics and purchased a pioneer from the trusted guys at newegg.com for $37 shipped to the door.
Ordered it on tuesday about 10 p.m. and had it by friday today.
It was oem with firmware of 1.23 put it in the computer started clonedvd ver 5.2.9.1
loaded the image burnt it in 40 minutes perfect no trick boot.
media was memorex 2.4 dvd+r dl
burnt @ 2.4

Did you have the latest mediacheck firmware on your Hitachi. Some have got the NEC and Hitachi to work together by doing that. That being said it's hard to pass up such a good burner at a decent price. Hate to rub it in but I got the same drive a couple of months back for $32 shipped and a free 50 pack of 16x Verbatim DVD-R to boot.

heehee The 7 in 1 was released over a month ago & was before geremia's media patch. Th 8 in 1 released yesterday or the day before is what has the media patch & FW stealth added.

So the next question would be, do you know that the compatibility has vastly improved?
If others running the new firmware 8 in 1 for hitachi can post if they have seen the ability to boot cheeper media or burn consistantly with other than the pioneer brand writers such as the nec line or others that have been listed here http://forums.xbox-s...howtopic=546451 Please post a follow up.
Also If there has been no real changes or you encounted booting errors let us know.
