Title: Pioneer 111d
Post by: jesterrace777 on August 26, 2006, 09:07:00 AM
It's possible that something went wrong with your firmware flash.  The Pioneer 111D does in fact support setting the booktype to DVD-ROM on D/L DVD+R discs right out of the box.  I have the 111D with stock V1.23 firmware and can confirm for a fact that it does this.  As for checking the booktype, all you need to do is pop in one of those burned discs and select the media ID icon.  It will display the full info including the booktype.  The feature that you are trying to use is worthless on the Pioneer as it is designed for drives that require you to manually set the booktype to DVD-ROM, hence the error message.  I have made the same mistake on my Pioneer 109 and 111D.  The feature just isn't up to speed on how to deal with a drive that does things automatically.  So once again use the media ID feature and put one of your burned discs in.

I'm talking about in DVDinfoPro.  In order to confirm that you did indeed burn the disc with the booktype set to DVD-ROM.  To do this, pick one of the discs you burned (but are having trouble with) and pop it in your burner and then open up DVDinfopro and select the media ID icon from the top of the screen.  It will then give you all of the info for the disc including what booktype the disc was burned as (DVD-ROM or DVD+R).  Also folks what media are you using?  Unless you are using Verbatim IMHO you are wasting your time.  No other D/L media comes close for compatibility or longevity.

I also have a pioneer 111d and was just wondering if someone could tell me how you can set the booktype to DVD-ROM. Also in dvdinfopro it says I have firmware 1.19 and I was wondering if it is worth flashing to 1.23 and if there are major things in the new version.

Did you miss my first post in this thread?  IT AUTOMATICALLY SETS IT FOR YOU ON D/L DVD+R, SO NO NEED TO LEARN HOW TO SET IT.  As for flashing to the V1.23, I would say that it is worth it as it offers improved burning for both CD and DVD media of all kinds.  They have a changelog on Pioneer's homepage if you want to see for sure what the fixes were.
