Title: How Can You Tell The Booktype After Burning?
Post by: p3eps on August 23, 2006, 11:54:00 PM
OK... I have a bit of a dilema!
I definately want to put some sort of mod in to switch FW but I'm not sure what.

I have blank SST chips here and also have the required SX28 and 50mhz resonator for the XHM homebrew chip.

Currently I have been flashing back and forth to play my backup (I only have 1 at the moment) cause I dont want banned from Live.  I have a Pioneer 108 with the latest FW which burns as DVD-ROM.

I've just read that the XHM chip requires the disks to be set as NME... and on a Samsung this means I need the disks as DVD+RDL.  I also have a Pioneer 108 at work which has its original FW - so I'm not sure if how it will burn.

I've read that the NME patcher ADDS the SS onto the disk and leaves the Xtreme one - so either way the disk wont be a loss!

I like the idea of the XHM chip and how simple it is to install... but I just dont like the idea of the NME backups.

Can I use my burner at work to try a NME style disk - and then somehow check what booktype it has burned as?
