Title: Benq 1620 Burning Problem
Post by: delahmed on January 12, 2007, 12:40:00 PM
I seem to have the same problem.
I got a BENQ 1620DW with B7V9 (B7W9 is buggy i hear) - I never have any problems backing up DVD+R discs using Sonic RecordNow 7.2 - the discs i burn have booktype set to DVD-ROM so my burner is definately capable of burning as DVD-ROM. After a succesful burn, i check the booktype and it is set to DVD-ROM.

Book Type Manager 8.4 claims my DVD+R DL Verbatim disc will burn in DVD-ROM format. I am trying to back up GRAW using a SH-D162C (flashed with Kreon 0.81) to read the disc using Xbox backup Creator 2.3. When i try to write I get the following error.

HARDWARE FAULT
ACTION: OPC CALIBRATION
SENSE ERROR 4/09/00
TRACK FOLLWOING ERROR
CDB SEND OPC INFORMATION
0x54 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

Anyone out there have a similar problem? I have already made 1 coaster....

Gentlemen, first of all we need to know which DVD-ROM your 360 has and the firmware revision?  By nature the Hitachi doesn't get along well with discs burned on the Benq drives.  The latest firmwares for the Hitachi fix most of these issues but not all.

I have a Samsung SH-D162C flashed with Kreon 0.81. Had a 78FK on my Hitachi 3120L 360 drive. Used Maximus Toolbox 3.0 to flash it. I used XBC 2.3 to rip Ghost Recon (GRAW). XBC failed to write at all causing 1 coaster.

I downloaded imgburn and set the booktype overide setting  to DVD-ROM. Set the User Specified Layer break to 1913760 in write settings to use a custom number just like it says in the tutorial, Then i choose a source in imgburn. I chose the GRAW.dvd file that XBC outputted earlier. Should I have chosen the GRAW.ISO file?

It now ran to 51% before moaning about not being able to write to the 2nd layer. At least it got slightly further than XBC did when i tried to write on that.

I have 2 Verbs coastered out. Might have a tea party..

@Jester: Do u have a BENQ 1620?

I have trawled the net and this forum and have had seen many similar responses by BENG 160 owners with similar symptoms. Thinking of getting the black Pioneer D111 dvd writer for 24 GBP.
