Title: Problems With Hitachi/opa2.1/dvr-111d/verbatim Media
Post by: carl723 on August 15, 2006, 02:09:00 PM
I have the following setup:

Hitachi 47DJ
Flashed with OPA2.1
Pioneer DVR-111D (Firmware 1.19)
Verbatim 2.4 DL Media

I flashed the drive with no problems at all.  I am now trying to backup an original game (RR6).  I have tried both methods (wxRipper and ISObuster) but with no luck.  When extracting security sectors I get the following "SS dumped successfully to SS.BIN with 10 challenges/responses".  Is this normal?

I have successfully ripped the game using wxRipper with no errors using a 7.9GB disk.  I have then merged the SS and ISO and burned the .dvd with Clone CD following metaphaze's guide exactly.  When burning in the pioneer I just get the open tray message on the dashboard.  If I burn in my NEC writer (changing the booktype) the game looks like it is going to boot but then just gives dirty disk error.  I have tried a soft reset and managed to get the dashboard to report that the disk was an "Unrecognized Disk".

When trying ISObuster method all I see is the Video/Audio folders.  I choose extract and thenenter 3567872 and the writing turns red and I get the error "The End Address Field contains an illegal value CANCEL will proceed anyway."  If I hit CANCEL I immediately get a read error which I tell it to fill with blank zeros.  It then continues and looks like it is filling with zeros most of the time as it freezes up whenever it does this.  It takes about an hour to rip about 40mb and then just seizes up completely

Can anyone make any suggestions on things I have missed?  I am going to try upgrading the pioneer firmware to 2.3 and ripping the SS with Drive Tools (rips with no errors) but I still doubt I will have any success.  Any suggestions would be much appreciaated as I have run out of ideas.

Thanks
