Title: Hdmi + Component In Parallel?
Post by: BruinsFan on July 12, 2010, 04:02:00 PM
If I connect the HDMI cable to my TV and the component output to another TV, would both work? (Assuming the same resolution is supported)

I currently have a launch 360, so I can't test this out myself, but I would consider buying a newer one if this was possible.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, this will not work.  The component plug is just fat enough so you can't get the HDMI cable in!

Thanks for the reply.

Do you know if this is still the case for the new slim model?

Also, any idea if the signal is still sent to the component pins if I were to re-wire a custom cable to it?

Thanks!

No it does not work.  The xbox will not send out two video signals.  You can easily attach both an HDMI cable and component/vga/composite cable at the same time, unfortunately only the HDMI cable will transmit a video signal.  This is how i currently have my 360 hooked up - HDMI to HDTV and VGA to monitor.  It ALWAYS defaults to HDMI video.  I have to unplug the HDMI cable for VGA to work.  I'm pretty damn sure component and composite cables would result with the same outcome.

Surprisingly using both component and composite actually works on two TVs
