I have a 360 pro with HDMI out. I have a Sony 24" FW900 computer monitor that only accepts component signal. I also have an HDFury that converts the HDMI to Component. So my setup is this
Xbox HDMI out -> HDFury -> Component in
When I ONLY have the HDMI cable plugged in, things work properly. From the Console settings screen, I can set my resolutions as 480p, 720p, and 1080p which is to be expected from the HDMI out. Here is where things get funny. If I plug in a thin MadCatz AV cable (to use the analog audio) above the HDMI cord, my Xbox restarts and I have audio and video BUT when I go to the Console settings screen, my resolution options are 1280x1024, 1920x1080 ect, which indicates VGA resolutions. This setup does indeed work but I did this whole thing because the XBox VGA signal is really washed out and I wanted to avoid that. How is it possibly sending VGA signal through the HDMI?
