Title: Hdmi And Optical Audio Dongle - Movies Just Sound

Still trying.

Found out that when I play a DVD Movie and the screen goes black and I hear sound. At this point a can remove the HDMI and cable and still hear sound. When I plug the HDMI cable back in I get video to go along with sound.

Seems stupid. Seems buggy.

Are there any audio / video settings in the xbox 360 to control this?

No, there is no option on the 360 in that sort.  It most def is your TV/receiver compatibility issue.  I have the same setup, and have no problems.
