Title: [quick-tut] Display X360 In 16:10 Monitor W/o Black Border
Post by: orangpelupa on February 15, 2009, 01:40:00 PM
hello.
i just found a way to display x360 games without black borders and correct aspect ratio in 16:10 monitor.
this work on my BenQ G900WD 19" and my ViewSonic 17"

usefull for monitor without 1:1 pixel aspect ratio option.

http://www.gamexeon....9868905f7a5.jpg

- save that image to USB FlashDisk
- turn on you xbox 360-
- set x360 to 1920x1080 or 1280x720 or 1280x768
- open that picture on xbox 360.
- press AUTO on your monitor

now wait and see. . . after It finish auto-adjusting, your monitor should display the image in correct aspect ratio and no black borders smile.gif
the disadvantage is, the left and right is cropped a bit.

maybe other monitor can use this trick too.

thanks

That kinda sucks... But good tutorial anyway...

Does anyone actually know why everything bar the 360 can display a 16:10 image properly and without the black border? Ive had nothing but trouble with it...

This isn't a fix, you're just stretching the image. If you don't want black borders, don't use a 16:10 monitor.

yes the image is stretched but its still retaining the correct aspect ratio. normally, in 16:10 monitor we only have 2 option. display with black border (with correct AR), display fullscreen (with stretched image).

this "workaround" will allow us to display image in fullscreen with correct aspect ratio.
and for many games i have played, the left/right cutout is not noticable and i now can play games with fullscreen, no black border -> i got bigger picture (full 19" panel)

and buying 16:9 monitor is not an solution. we buy LCD monitor because its cheap. so buying a new 16:9 LCD while we already have 16:10 LCD monitor is really not an solution... (atleast for me, my savings already gone to 16:10 LCD Monitor a few months ago)

thanks
