You can hook it up that way, but you will not have any sound if you don't use a powered speaker source.  If you are using headphones, you will need to put in an amplifier between the 360's audio out, and the headphones.

ok thats all i needed to know. i will be using pc speakers because i didnt see it making any sense to have wires running all the way to my tv.
