"AV to VGA adapter"?
Use a proper VGA cable for the console, everything else is garbage. why buy a good monitor if you are gonna hook up the console with the worst possible cable (AV) that doesn't even come close to supporting the resolution of it?

that's a normal vga cable then.
try it on another monitor if possible, and try holding Y+LT while booting to reset video mode, in case it is set to one the monitor can't handle.

I kinda gave up, the monitor is in the box ready to be shipped back to Tigerdirect lol. It just didn't do what I wanted to do. Thanks though.
