I work at a Play N Trade and my boss decided to start buying broken 360s (outside of MS warranty) in hopes of frankenstein'ing them back together. He left me in charge of this fun new project. I did a lot of case modding on my original xbox so I'm not totally retarded, but in the realm of xbox 360 I'm pretty new.
The first two we have gotten seem to have the same problem. After hooking them up nothing happens on the screen (I've tried using different cables and different TVs, no success) and there is no sound. But everything seems to be ok otherwise, no red rings etc.
Is there a fix for this or should we just keep these laying around for parts?

First, take a look inside the A/V connector on the 360 and make sure that none of the pins are bent up, but this most likely isn't the cause. You most likely have a broken solder joint connecting to a trace which connects to the HANA encoding chip. Try any of the x-clamp replacement methods and see if that gets it going again.
