Some can tell a difference between HDMI and VGA, it depends on how big your TV is, how close you sit, and how well your set does with VGA. Personally I would just buy a good VGA cable and be done with it.

The Circuit City specs show your TV as having a VGA input, but the owners manual on the Sony website says it doesn't. If you have the TV now, can you confirm one way or the other? Another thing to think about is not all TV's that have VGA will accept 1920x1080 through it, they may max out at a lower res.

Odd it wouldn't have a VGA port, as Sony's been trying to push their TV's as "Big Monitors" as well.

you got a better shot of doing 1080p with RGB component. Our samsung in the living room is hooked up that way, looks great. The brighthouse cable boxes are known for having shotty hdmi ports. True HDMI is the best.. but only when it works. Its got its flaws.
