Title: Black Oval Dots On Screen During Gameplay
Post by: theDelicious on March 13, 2008, 06:03:00 PM
I have the exact same problem.

It happens to me in Cod4, Forza 2 and Assassins Creed, those are the only games that I am currently playing but it has happened in all three games so far.  The odd thing is that when I am playing Forza and it happens I hit start to go to the options screen and that screen is perfect but the background is still messed up.  When I play Cod4 multiplayer the screen goes weird until the game is over, the room picture is fine and then I have the same problem when we start playing again.  In all my games the problem is never a problem right off the bat, it usually takes 5-10 minutes for the problem to strike and some times the problem never even shows up.

anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Your GPU is overheating.

Itll be either a problem with the GPU, or the RAM that is causing the black dots...RAM issues generally present themselves as multicolor patterns, usually checkerboard patterns. Though, in this case the problem has cause black ovals...

There is a reasonably good chance your 360 is going to get the 3 red lights again soon..

Things to try are tightening the bolts on your X-clamp fix, or try getting your 360 beter cooling...
