Title: New Xbox, No Video

Yesterday I just got an Xbox 360 Elite, however that night when I went to hook it up I couldn't manage to get video only sound. Using the white, red and yellow there is no video, just sound. Should I look into exchanging it? I spent several hours attempting to get it work last night, completely failed.

Make sure you're using the right red cable. One is for component video, the other is for video, and make sure the switch on the video cable is set to SD, it's set to HD by default.

The switch is set to TV and I am using the correct hook-up's. I have tried the other set on the AV cable, well the green for video and it will show up but it's in black and white. It seems as though the yellow/white/red isn't working.

It's probably just a shorted out cable. I don't think it's worth taking the whole system back, though maybe it is. You can go buy a new cable (the same one you have), then try it, if it works, take back the broken one. I don't think that can be considered fraud or anything, since they're both new cables.

I will be buying a cable and hopefully that will work, since it does seem like it could be a bad cable. I'm just glad it's not the whole system.

Sorry to bump an old thread but if someone wandered in here and read that they would be mis informed.

The video cable standard A/V yellow cable is the video while the solid red is the Audio  Right with White being Audio Left.

The partial colored or "HD" section of the cable converts the colors as they show on the cable itself
Partial red plug outputs the red color, Partial green cable outputs the green color and the partial blue plug outputs the blue color.

Actually it's a typing mistake (didn't proofread), I meant one (red cable) is for video and one is for audio.
