Just use a switch in the power cable (switch the red and yellow wires) so that only one drive has power at any time - then you don't need to worry about the IDE cable switch.

Just make sure the xbox is turned off each time you change between harddrives.

i tried that yesterday, it will boot but when i tired to play a cd i would get the service error, i think i might have to cut other ide cables.... problem is that nobody here is trying what i am doing so its hard to get help, so i hoped someone with more technical knowledge could help me.

You need to give info on what number the service error is.

Switching the power works if you have done it correctly, see this tutorial: http://www.xbox-scen...multi-drive.php

The problem is: Not all HDD's are compatible

THIS IS ALL CAPS WORTHY

I FIGURED IT OUT, my question is now if i write a tutorial on this will it get published, i found out the right cable to put a switch on to get the xbox to have 2 hds and one dvd and still work to switch between.   i am going to finalize my case mod now and solder/mount my switches.

is this tutorial worthy?

wow, didnt know it was the cause for error codes, i wont beable to write the tutorial until tomorrow afternoon or monday afternoon but its kinda simple, it allows you to have 2 harddrives and a dvdrom on one ide ribbon cable, while using 2 switches.  i almost gave up but then i decided to start cutting wires and testing certain patterns.  i would hold off on buy that thing about thats 40 euros because this only needs 2 switches. i tested getting on live and i did not get banned either so it works fully

Let me know when you get the tutorial down. I have a 250 gig and a 160 gig that needs to be put in my xpod. Everything is all apart (again) until I figure this problem out. thanks again jamesh1985 for the future info.

yeah this sounds very interesting, i would love to leave the original HD in and alone and just add a second drive to switch to, just having the fun not making it external is not what im looking forward too
