Title: Upscaling D1 Dvds Idea
Post by: epsilon72 on August 26, 2006, 02:36:00 PM
Some people think it's washed out (I don't), but if you do have this problem it can easily be corrected by lowering your brightness and maybe raising your contrast--

I too have a display that does 1920x1080 natively and I use 1280x1024 in 16:9 mode with VGA, and it looks to me like the DVD's do get upscaled.  FFVII: Advent Children and Revenge of the Sith look awsome, but of course not as good as true 1080p video.  Why would you want to change vga to component?  Does your display not have VGA input?  It is my belief along with several others here that VGA is in fact superior to component....

The Sony KVHR36M31 is widely regarded as the worlds best consumer grade crt short of forking out big time for pro grade displays, but but it has no vga input.

Edit: Discovered this : "The issue is that the 360 is sending Video Levels over the VGA connection and most displays (not all) are expecting PC RGB Levels over VGA . Some displays have a setting for this while others may auto sense and adjust as needed but the majority do nothing and thus get the washed out image ."
