I didnt have this same problem, but when I was using component I noticed some graphical errors on the launch animation whenever I started up. It might just be part of the component problem. Do you ever get a green flash across the screen?

Well I don't know if it was a factor but my 360 that had that graphical error died on me. It could be a totally different issue but I noticed it started doing that crap then it eventually died on me, but like i said I don't know if thats just another issue I had or if they are related.

I think it deals with the internal switch of the monitor / tv itself.  When on HD, it takes a bit for it to both turn on and start the signal "going" to the screen.  Kind of like how, with VGA, my monitor is in "sleep mode" and it takes a bit for the screen to show an image when I turn my 360 on.  When I turn it on, I see the power button go from amber to green, telling me it's getting a signal, but it takes a little bit to pop on, so all I see is the end of the startup sequence.

i found that if i turn the tv on right after i hit the power on the xbox, by the time the xbox outputs the video signal i see the whole starup animation.
strange but i can deal with it.
