Title: Thomson 32ex127b5 - Any Good?
Post by: pandaen on June 12, 2006, 08:19:00 AM
Hi everyone.
Fact is my uncle is a radio/tv dealer and he offered me a Thomson 32EX127B5 at an affordable price.
Anyone know this model, or can find it on the net? I've looked for a whole lot of time on google now, but found nothing at all.

All i found was this page:
http://www.netget.dk...uct=3135&page=1

But it is in danish, and most of you guys may not understand it.

I tried it and it seemed really nice graphics in burnout revenge! smile.gif

Some facts:
It has HDMI.
32"
Format: 16:9
1366 x 768 pixels
8 ms repsonse
progressive scan
contrast 1000:1

Im not sure if its good enough or not?

They made the worst Xbox DVD drive of the lot.  D'you really think their TVs are going to be any better?

Thomson stuff in the UK is
i) ugly (take a look at their Digiboxes)
ii) awkward to use (menus on some TVs and VCRs are a bastard to navigate - not good when your grandparents buy one and can't figure out how to use it)

i wouldn't necessarily make that comparison. sony make absolute crap optical drives (ps2, computer, car stereo, etc.) but they make one hell of a TV. i don't know about the thompson tv's, but perhaps dig around the net a little bit more and see if you can find user reviews. maybe check amazon, price grabber, google etc.

I couldn't find any info on that set.
But as far as specs go, that's not bad for an LCD.
The contrast levels are lower than a Sammy but oh well, 1000:1 is the most common contrast level found in LCDs.

But I've learned to never go by specs, HDTV's vary greatly in terms of picture quality.
You need to demo these things before you buy them.
But since you're buying from your uncle, you shouldn't worry about it right?
I mean he will take it back if you're not happy with it right?
He's a greedy bastard who deserves death if he's willing to take advantage of his nephew, if you ask me laugh.gif
