Check in the bACK of the tv. if there are red, blue and green plugins then it is able to read hi-def signals.

Thats not completely true, because they can also be just 480p inputs. But yea i know that TV is high def. The only thing is it cannot pickup HD feeds directly from an antenna, you need a Tuner box or cable/sattelite. Mits. makes amazing TV's. Im sure you will love it

i need a hi def box to recieve hi def programming

This is true for most TV's
The 360 does sorta count as a "hi def box" so it will display in HD on your tv with no problems

2 Picture Format Modes for analog 720p/1080i and digital 16:9

So there you go.  Your best bet would be to set the 360 for 720p as it is the native resolution of most games and runs at 60 fps.

That's the part that gets most people...they think "oh...so I can't even play hi-def stuff on this without a 200 dollar box? forget it, I already payed $1500+ dollars on this TV!" An HDTV can play ANYTHING that's high definition as long as it is HD...the 360 is HD, so yes, it'll play in HD....if you hook up an HD cable box, you'll view HD....it's justt hat you won't be able to view over the air signals without an "HDTV tuner". It's just marketing to get people to buy more stuff.

Yeah, now that they adopted the DLP tech. they do, lol.  Up until that point, they made some of the WORST bigscreens I have ever seen.

That is completely off base.  Many 480i only TV's have component connections.
