Title: Xbox 360 On A Panasonic Rear Projection Tv. Good Or Bad?
Post by: Solosmooth on January 23, 2006, 04:52:00 AM
I just purchased an xbox 360 and currently using it on my 19 inch dell lcd w composite cable.
Well the picture quality isn't all that great. I do however have a Panasonic 42 inch Cinema Vision HDTV rear projection tv in the living room. I connected my 360 yesterday and wow!! what a difference in quality.

I just wanna know if my 360 will damage my rear projection tv in the long run?
I hear gaming on a rear projection tv is a NO, NO.

Thanks!!

read the manual for your 42 inch.

Chances are, playing 3 hours of certain games with static images.. like some of the sports titles.. will burn in an image to part of the screen.

Some tv's in that range feature special game modes.. that do thing like dim the screen.. oscillate static images periodically etc to help prevent burn in. Your manual for the TV will be the best guide/advice on this matter.

If it's a true rear projection, then no, there is no chance of screen burn in because they use lamps. If it's a tube, then yes, there is a chance.  But you'd have to leave it on a static image for a very very long time.

Ok, speaking from true experience with my Samsung 42" Rear Projection TV and my Xbox 360 I would advise that if you are going to use your 360 with it by the RGB scart cable as you will get the best picture quality results in terms of sharpness with it.

Thanks Guys, I'll look for the manual and read up. It would be a shame to have an hdtv and not be able to play my 360 because of image burn in probs. I think my tv uses tubes not lamps.
I'm not sure though..

If its a regular rear projection (not lcd or dlp) then you will want to change to tv from xbox every couple hours to make sure you don't develop burn in on your tv, you can also lower the brightness level to help prevent burnin
