Title: Erm...how On Earth Do I Setup The Hd Output Mode ?

I believe you are refering to settings like 720P or 1080i? If so you wont see those when you connect through VGA.  Those 'HD' settings are just resolutions like you are seeing now. All you need to do is choose the the correct resolution for your monitor. If its an LCD it should have one native that it prefers.  720P for example is equal to 1,280x720. If you are running 1280x1024 then you are fine.
