The component has the optical 5.1 audio connector. If I want to use VGA cable where do I plug my optical 5.1 sound then?
Please don't tell me I can't use optical 5.1 when I have VGA cable plugged in.

I don't know for certain but from the pictures I've seen of the VGA adapter it looks like it has the optical out on it on the same place as all the other video out cables.

I have a feeling that it does NOT support optical connector for audio.Where is this connector that you are talking about?

If you notice the wire come out of one side of the plug going into the 360, that's because the other side has an optical connector on it that looks like this:
You'll need to supply your own optical cable but that's what you need to connect to your receiver for surround sound.
