Title: Can You Play Xvid Or .ts Files In Mce 2005?
Post by: LowProfileWurm on November 09, 2005, 11:14:00 AM
I have MCE2005 and it just feels like a better version of XP.  I don't know what it is, but it just handles tasks more efficiently.  As for playing Xvid files, if you install the codec on MCE, it will play the video files.  Same goes for all files.  I'd say it's worth installing if you're getting it free.  Just do a full install, don't upgrade.

According to sources, the scheduled release date for Windows Vista is July 23, 2006. That release date is only scheduled for PC vendors so that systems will be made Vista ready before Christmas. The general public availability is projected to be after early September 2006.

not a MS officially stated release date, but i don't have too much trouble belive that its atleast somewhat accurate.

MCE is very nice. I have it on a HP media center pc hooked up to a 21inch widescreen HP LCD monitor. It's beautiful, MCE2005 feels alot better then XP like said above. All the media playback is seamless and intergrated very nicely. But in the end its just XP with some enhancments so everything pretty much works the same and is compatiable

i have had mce 2005 before and i can say,its pretty decent. But there dont really update the video drivers enought like the regular xp.But i gotton the regular xp drivers working with mce2005 and its just fine. Its does load a few other things in the background but its nothing that will overhaul your pc.I might install it back for the 360 features, but i dont think all my divx or xvids wont work on the 360.Iguess we will have too see
