I'm thinking about getting this TV and I wanted to know what is the difference between Broadcast Format Supported and Broadcast Format Displayed.

He's correct... it has everything to do with picking up HDTV signals Broadcast or  OTA (over the air).

It has no bearing what-so-ever with playing Video games or movies through your HDTV.

It doesn't even have much to do with HDTV cable as most providers use their own tuners.
