Not really any recomandations...
But make absolutely sure that you get one with at least 1 digital fiber optic
input. If you don't you won't be able to get surround sound from the 360.

go to your local best buy/comp USA/circuit city and try them out... they typically have them on display for you to try.

I personally like the stuff made by Cambridge Soundworks as they usually offer a good balance of quality vs price

something like this:

I say go Onkyo. You can get the HT-S870 for about 500 on sale or the  HT-S680 for about $400. I have the HT-S760 (last years model of the HT-S870) and it is amazing.

I agree with sageice.Onkyo is excellent. The 780 is a great package for the price.
Never buy sony sound products. The onkyo has component video switching in it.You'll need it for high def if you you have the tv.If you don't have hd then you will soon. The speakers are a lot better than the competitors. The cambridge is good
but are not as flexible.Polk is great as well but I didn't see any with an amplifier/reciever.Enjoy!

ack

Bose  ph34r.gif

Get a Receiver, then get these...

http://www.definitiv.../procinema.html

little more pricey but the subs are actual subs and reach down low. Ive ran tests on all those little guys and they atually come close to their listed frequency range as far as very low bass band. I'm a fan of JBL and Klipsch(decent speakers found at mass market stores), but that little 8" pro60 sub walks all over the subs you find in a best buy, and those are enclosures holding a supposed much more powerful amp and a 12 or 15" woofer.

Has to be heard/felt to be believed.

My cousin has the 60 setup, and its quite nice.

nevermind this post. Just saw the 300 to $500.00 budget.

The cheapest of these are $700.00 and can only be found at a "DefTech" dealer. Thats not including a Receiver  sad.gif

for the $$ though, kick ass little setup.

Make sure it has an optical jack as well.

I'm guessing those are pc speakers. If so, you won't be getting full 5.1 surround sound, just sound from all 5 of the speakers. Sicne tehy are pc speakers, and assuming they don't have a ecoder built in, they can't output dolby digital 5.1 etc (that's why they are pc speakers, because you use your sound card to do that).

shhhh.... don't listen to Carlo... he's bee going crazy with to much  pop.gif lately

Both the Logitech z-5500 and the Klipsch ProMedia GMX D-5.1 have hardware decoders and are designed for use with consoles as well as PC and will do you fine for a budget system  beerchug.gif
