Also, about how long should it take for a map to load in PGR3? It seems to take a signifigant amount of time, exceeding the average load time for something on the PS2 which was one of the features of the PS2 that led me into the MS realm

ya know, i was seein the same thing when i tried the demo of that.  thought it might be a framerate issue, but to me it really looked like its sposed to be that way.  i think its the bumpiness of the road and makes the car hop, or something.  either way, it seemed unplayable to me, and i was surprised it got such good reviews.

on the other hand, i was finishing PDZ last night, and wow, the framerate in that game goes horribly wrong in the last levels.  geez....it was pretty dam bad.

This happened with my friends 360, though not to the extent you describe. It is very noticeable though. He would drift into a turn and you could see the screen tear and lag.

Just a bad port I think.

It doesnt seem to make sense that it would be a bad port(if by port you mean the adaption of this game to be used on the 360). Since noone else is experiencing this issue to the extent which I am im starting to think I may just have a bad copy of the game. Ill take it back to Sams Club and exchange it for the same game and see if it solves the problem. It is not just one of two frames it is extremely choppy and is in addition to the design of the game with the car hitting bumps and such. I have this game on PC and it is a very fun game so I would hope its just a bad copy.

I have the game and have had no problems.

BTW, why would one game make you lose your 360 appetite?

Well, When you spend $480 on a system+controller and then tack on another $60 for the game and the game jumps all over the screen as if I was playing on a 400mhz E-machine it makes me feel like I wasted my money.(at least(unarguably) $60)

Well sucks to be you because that game runs brilliantly on mine... I really do think you have a bum system or that its overheating... You know about elevating the power supply and all the junk right?

Im gonna take a wild guess and say he's perturbed that he paid 300-400bux for a game system and another 60bux for a game, and it doesnt work as he intended.

Just a hunch though. biggrin.gif

This is why the Xbox 360 is going to have problems once we start seeing an abundance of supply.  Your average person is not going to ever consider doing this and is going to attribute the problem to the system and not ever consider a 'trick' to get their console to work properly.

I wasn't intending to flame you, just trying to put some perspective on this.  If you were playing COD2 and other games and enjoyed them, I personally would't say sour grapes to the whole system because one game is effed up. (but i'd be pissed about the $60)  Exchange the disk for one that works.  If the problem persists call that 1-800# and get a new one.

Lets first get this straight.  NFS has a weak frame rate.  If you played PGR before this you'll be quite disapointed . While it is a fun game at times, the game could have really used a few more weeks in the oven.

NFS runs at about 20FPS.  It often waivers and sometimes drops below 15.  For a racing game, that sucks. It really sucks after playing PGR running at 60FPS.

Some people don't notice it as much as others.  Those of us with big HDTVs can realy pick up on it.

When are people going to stop pointing fingers at the hardware and blame who's actually at fault (the game developers) ?   If your 360 renders graphics without freezing up, then it's working fine. People that think returning a game for a new copy is going to fix any of their problems must have hit their head while falling down the stairs on the short bus.   rolleyes.gif

I don't have any problems playing NFSMW on my 360.  I have the console on its side on a stand with over 2 foot of open space behind it.  My power supply sits on top of a computer I have behind the stand.  I've played NFSMW for over 7 hours straight with no bugs or glitches and love the game.  I just rented PGR and the graphics on PGR are outstanding but I'm having difficulty getting used to how the cars handle.  That's my problem and has nothing to do with the game or the console.

Your response is extremely helpful in finding out why NFSMW plays differently on my machine than others.... rolleyes.gif

You just don't get it.   It doesn't play any differently on your machine than others.  NFS:MW chops on my 360, it chops on the demo kiosks and it chops on every single person's 360 that posted in here.  Some people may not have the eye to detect it, but it happens.  Why?  Because every game disc is a digital copy of the original, an exact duplicate.  Every Xbox360 has the same hardware specs.

It's just like the people that return their copy of COD2 for a new one because of the save game issue.  All the games are identical and all of them have the save game issue.  Just because not everyone experiences the problem, doesn't mean that theur discs or consoles are defective.

I dont know abou the 360 but in the xbox its pretty good though yes it gets a little bit choppy but like someone said its the car and the road, but other than that. Nfsmw is a sweet game for the xbox, i like it more than forza. Its pretty fun, if you dont like it on the 360 then get it on the xbox (if you own one), its pretty much the same game but on the 360 it has better graphics.

Based on the demo from live marketplace the game is nearly unplayable at HD resolutions and very jumpy and choppy at SD depending on what type of race it is. Certainly one of the worst examples of unoptimizing.

In fact I had the exact same experience on my PC with an A64 3200+ and 6800GT 256MB, looks like crap and runs like turd. Simply horrendous.

Come to think of it, do any of the EA games run properly? NBA has stuttering between 60 and 30, NFSMW is horrendously stuttery, Fifa stutters between 60 and 30 and Madden has screen tearing to keep it from stuttering (and I would prefer the tearing over the stutter).

But only PGR3, Kameo and CoD2 seem properly optimized for the critical performance we should demand and receive. The rest are more or less tossed together ranging from criminally bad to barely acceptable.

Exactly, thats EA for you. If you've ever seen the game on xbox gen 1 it looks like trash. EA sucks at making games.

Right On Bro, that's my piont NFS is an attractive and somewhat fun gam BUT it is under-developed. Your XBOX is alllllllllgoooood.  If you don't believe me, then play the first EA NHL on the PS2.   Somehow, later incarnations looked better and played smoother.  Hard to imagine isn't it(sarcasm wink.gif )
