Faulty Guitar Hero II Controller Fix Posted by XanTium | April 10 21:14 EST | News Category: Xbox360
Red Octane confirmed today via its customer support team that unfortunately there is a batch of Guitar Hero II X Plorer controllers for the Xbox 360 with a faulty whammy bar. The problem causes whammy bar movements to either not be registered within the game, or for there to be a slight delay before you whammy bar movements are represented on screen.
Red Octane has promised that unsatisfied customers can exchange their controllers at their place of purchase, or if purchased via their online store, can submit an RMA request and have the faulty controller exchanged. The problem is isolated to two specific models of the controller, the numbers of which are 95065 and 95055.
However all is not as bad as it seems as we have discovered a remedy to this problem which is as simple as loosening two screws and which does not void your warranty. Carefully follow these simple instructions.
oh well, at least theres a simple fix.. wonder if its a perma-fix?
i wondered why the whammy only worked sometimes :/

Submit a RMA online for an exchange? Good luck with that. I submitted 2 of them exactly one week ago from today and STILL haven't received any reply from RedOctane yet. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif)

classy response to a known problem - and such a simple fix.
i find it odd that you can basically take the whole thing apart and still NOT void the warranty...

Great fix!
Now the guitars will work perfectly for all of the downloadable songs on Live that Microsoft is trying to rape us on. Yay!

They should recall them and send out new perfect units to retail. I want to buy this game but I want a working controller out of the box. I dont' want to have to take it apart and tweak it just to play the game. I know its simple, and trust me I have the technical ability, it's just the principle of the matter. Are they expecting 1/2 of America to have to return their controller because it doesn't work? Talk about an inconveinance! Some people have to drive 30 miles to get to the store they bought it at, even if it is 5 miles away, it's still a pain in the arse...
