If you host the game your progress will be saved. If you join a game, your progress will not be saved.

"progress" is arbitrary though, you will lose your current checkpoint on the chapter you were working on, but u can still go back to the chapter inside of the ACT specicifically. basically, you don't lose enough to really worry about it, at least not for me. i just played through thee entire game in 4 hours :0. of course, that was because i knew where everything was and it wasn't my first time
