Title: Final Fantasy Character Data
Post by: gusradio on January 20, 2006, 09:54:00 PM
I just got an email back from Play Online and there is no official stance on what happens to your character data after the beta test is done and that I sould be prepared to lose my data.

I dropped about 20 hours into the beta test already so I'm a little miffed.  I won't spend one minute more beta testing their game and server without some kind stance on what's going to happen to all the work I do developing a character.

I'll wait and if I hear that you can keep the char I'll continue the beta test.. if not I'll wait until the game comes out.  Pretty great game and I'm really happy that Square_Enix are on board the 360 but I can't justify putting that much of my personal time into something that just goes away.

end-rant

That would make it no different then any other beta that Square has held. It shouldnt come as a surprise

I've never done a beta for Square before.. nor was I particularly surprised.  Just the facts.  I probably would be playing this game right now if I thought my progress could be carried over, you know seeing as how I oculd easily spend 100 hours or more over next few months.

It doesn't matter though because thinking about all that time I know it could be better spent doing somthing more constructive.  I probably wont purchase this game now that I've taken the time to really evaluate the quality of the experience versus the wieght of of the time nessecary to get themost out of it.  I was excited about networking the 360 with PS2's and PC gamers when the game was released on a cross platform server and I'm happy to have had the chance to play this game on the 360 at all.

it's great that Square Enix are on board with the 360 and I hope we get some serious RPGs in the near future.
