Is there a program, or will there ever be, that allows a dvd to be ripped to the xbox in either divx or xvid or something...?

not right now. convert it using your pc and then transfer the divx file via ftp

It would take forever to convert on the Xbox.

i reckon it is possible through linux.

but as celinedrules stated, it would take ages.
