DOA Details

Some good info there... I found the last paragraph (about motion blur) particularly interesting.
Also the fact that it may launch in Japan first is both good and bad... we got DOA3 first but Japan got extra content (yeah I know we could get it through OXM but it was a pain)... Perhaps this time if they get it first, we'll get the extra content

what twisted said

Team Ninja is considering including a cameraman mode in the game so that players will be able to snap pictures with this effect clearly visible.
Holy SHIT
Panty/beaver shots of Ayane, Hitomi and LeiFang galore!!!
If this Camera thing happens and we can take pics and save them, say Gbye to me when the game hits. I'll be infront of the 77" screen 24/7, seeing how many different crack angles I can get a hold of
-
they already did that in DOA:U on-line, but you can't take pics ;-)
-
taking pics, and then being able to save them to the harddrive would just be...

These characters are starting to look amazing and smooth.
Some of them remind me of Super smash Bros. Melee for the gc. You gotta admit, SSBMelee had some awesome characters models for it's time.

I've played plenty of Smash and no, they don't remind me of DoA characters in the least , wtf are you talking about :rotfl:

with some drug
I returned the favor earlier, and now hes trippin' like Kutaragi after a grilling session with the ps3 BBQ master grill winch lift kit station.

I am not saying the DOA characters look like SSBMelee characters, but the art style (smoots textures and bright colors) remoind me of super smash brother melee characters.
SSBMelee characters are probably some of the best character models of this current generation. the only way you would say 'no' is because 'Ew ItS NiNtEnDo'.

Obviously DOA4 looks much better, but these are impressive character models for a Gamecube launch title back in 2001.

I so agree with you...
I have no idea why I am saying this but I don't want to argue again but so ...
Remember the arguement we had about screenshots of perfect dark zero? That I was saying that screenshots don't represent the game? Well just to say... Rare stated that they had the game working on gamecube, pretty much the singleplayer ascept of it, so when they went to Xbox, they were working on multiplayer and had the game working at 50 players online.
So yeah, also Rare said that the graphics weren't there for the Xbox, the system was too underpowered, then 360 rolled in and you can figure out the rest..
Its in EGM with their perfect dark zero preview.
P.S anyone a new gaming mag? like a new EGM or OXM?
-
-
It's just that it looks smooth
, of course the graphics are underpowered compared to Xbox..

Hopefully the game's overall mechanics have been rehauled instead of just reintroducing the exact same concept but with a much nice "wrapping".

Okay, I see what you mean with those pictures...it's rare that you see the characters from those angles in the game. For some reason, I thought they were flatter than that.

that's pretty much what DoA 4 is all about...they've revamped the fighting system, changed most of the moves and are making it deeper for fighting game fans.

QUOTE(incognegro @ Jul 25 2005, 05:40 PM)
the xbox too underpowered for a game running on the gamecube?
They wanted to implement 50+ players online, which was not possible to the quality they wanted on xbox. There was no such thing on the gc version. Also I would like to see a video of this "blurring"
-
It wasn't just because of the online aspect.
They started with gamecube because they were licensed with nintendo back then. Then they moved onto MS. They has basics of PD0 set up, but they figured they could get a much ebtter looking and better playing game on the xbox. they worked on that.
Then after hearing that they can get a release spot for the xbox360, the rest of the work done on the xbox was for the xbox360 (which is what we have been seeing so far). They chose to launch for xbox360 instead of releasing the game for xbox because of extras like 50+ players online and, of course, all the glory which is xbox360.
-
The biggest news regarding DOA 4 (to me) is the fact that the game's finally getting a gameplay overhaul.
It was starting to get old.
And what a way to top this off, Itagaki even said that he's going to make the fighting system more complex.
If this is the case, then I guess I just found my number 2 title to buy this upcoming November :P

I want to see that shutter blur effect in motion! Juggie-physics be damned (not really Deftech!) I want to see some sweet action footage with all the goodies turned on. Maybe Neo will be an unlockable character! Anyway, anyone have a link to ANY DOA4 footage that has the shutter blur effect in it? Famitsu had to get it from somewhere... Oh, and that revamped fighting system scares me a bit. I love DOA3's fighting system. The only thing I wish for is more air/ground throws. Tina's ruled. I trust Itagaki though. The man sure does know what he's doing.

^Perfect Example
I think the idea comes from video footage.
When you freeze frame on a movie, things in motion almost always have a motion blur. Picking up on that and including it in the game is a awesome idea and I think everything will look much more fluid for it.
EDIT:
There is a video with the effect in use here: http://www.xboxyde.com/leech_1525_en.html
though the quality isn't that great

Perhaps the effect is too subtle for me to pick up on but I was hoping to get a real feel for how fast the character moves. Anyone work at Famitsu who wants to mooch footage???
