Title: Looking For 3 Programs
Post by: LSCerberus on February 01, 2005, 11:40:00 PM
1. a basic txt editor. something liek notpad/wordpad for the xbox that i can use with my keyboard.

2. DivX encoder. i was hoping to be able to do my dvd rips and encoding on my xbox so theyll only take up like 500-700 megs not the 3-7 gigs a disc copy does. i understand that it would take a long time to do but it's not like my xbox does a whole lot (in comparison to a computer that is) when im nto playing games on it im not using it.

3. Background audio player. something like a VERY light winamp or somethign that will allow me to just play an mp3 playlist in the background of other stuff be it evox dash or a game, i really dont know if that's possible. <

1. Xpad sounds like what you want, but dont know if works with a proper keyboard as I dont have one.

2. Dont know of any divx encoding app, its mainly dismissed as it would take the xbox ages to encode (from what I've read on other threads).

3. Just use Xbox Media Center, make a playlist and your away.  One of the joypad buttons (cant remember which one off the top of my head ) launches the visualisations.  Cant do this and play a game, but many games support custom soundtracks of course :) <

Htanks for the txt progs.

i guessed as much for the divx but my figuring is that though it's only an 800mhz or whatever when idle NONE of that is being used ulike windows which uses a lot of just idle processing power as well as any programs liek NAV or firewall or whatever you might have.

I was really hoping for something that will let you play in background of games because even though a lot of games do support custom soundtracks you still have to listen to their crap during menus and stuff as well as not just having the audio playing over everything, it does break up a lot. and yes i know i could just use my cd player i was just hoping for a cool background thiny of some kind. Oh and what you said about XBMC doesnt stil work once you leave XBMC does it? <

the xbox can only run one xbe at a time. the moment you start a game, the player gets wiped from memory. also, a lot of games would no longer run cause it'd use up too much memory.
