Ok... this is weird... was like 4 missions from beating the game on Hardend and once I finished the mission I was on it went back to the trainning mission... I went back and checked on the mission select and the only missions unlocked was the one I had just beat and the trainning mission... What gives??? I really don't wanna have to play through all those missions again. Has this happened to anyone else?

Since everything is wireless and its bad for your cells what happens if you play for like 5 hours would you get sick??
Funny Guy. First post as well.
Tell me mate, do you think that just because you don't have your radio or TV on the microwaves and radio waves aren't there?
There are hundreds of radiation signals going through your head right not, from cell phone signals to military communications, I hardly think that RF signals of 2.4GHz from the x360 will cause you any damage.
The only people who care about radio radiation are the bleeding protestors, in their middle fourties, trying desparitely (sp) to hold onto their hippy days.

Yes, I have this exact same problem. Very frustrating. I emailed Activision tech support to find out if they have an answer. I haven't seen may report the bug yet. Do you have more than 1 profile? I have 2 - one Xbox Live Profile, and another for my son wihich is not Xbox Live.
Thanks for the reply... no I only have 1 profile... if you find out any info let me know...
-
Same here. I finished the first four missions (not in one consecutive sitting) then it took me back to the training mission.
Somethin's up
-
I called tec support after loosing my game save and this is a known issue. I lost my game save after I recovered my profiled on another box. Sucks bad.
-
I gave mine 3 strikes, and it struck out. I only have one profile, never brought anything over from my old Xbox, never messed with anything, and have come to the conclusion it's a programming error. Does everyone have the premium, or is this happening to those who save to memory cards too?
-
Same here, I was almost done beating the campaign on veteran. (premium)
-
This is so obviously simple to fix.
Let your xbox dash boot up and sign in to xboxlive. THEN start the game. You're progress will be saved from now on.
-
chazman - i always play signed into my xbox live account. this is not a solution. i got an email back from activision with the old "must be a bad disk" reply. not the issue, bad disks get stuck at loads, not saved game loads from the hard drive. i am an premium.

hahaha... yea that will fix it...
-
why do some people think the are so god damn smart, there are so many variables but they know the answer!
-
Yea being that this isn't an isolated event I believe it's somethingin the coding... damn... guess you have to play it through in one sitting...
-
I had the same problem at least 4 times. Eventually I made sure to select save and quit many times. I'm mad because I beat most the game, then recovered my Live account. Now I have to re-beat everything to get the acheivments because my profile won't match with the gamertag. Note to everyone, set up a perminant profile that you want to use as your gamertag. If you have Live, recover as soon as possible.
-
Ok, I have a Core system and my game saves are on a Memory card. It must be a problem in the game because this has happened twice. Once on Normal the second on Hardened. The second time after I finished the british level it went right into the movie for the training. I was also logged into XBox live the entire time. This sucks. I contacted XBox live the first time because I thought it was when I recovered my Gamertag. They said that it was a known issue with the game. If it is a known issue they need to get on it and fix it. I am dying to see D-Day and every time I get close I have to start all over. If anyone has a sure way of getting past this please post.

Start emailing Infinity Ward. They are the ones responsible for an update/patch via live.

Well I emailed activision support and got the following out of them:
Customer 12/02/2005 09:00 PM
I had just started the British Campaign and then saved and quit. Then today I came back to play and all of the missions except for training were locked. It is now making me start over. I have heard from many people that this is happening to them also and they are having a hard time getting through the game because it loses their saved games. Is there any way to fix this issue?
Response (Lawrence Watthey) 12/03/2005 03:08 PM
Hello,
Thank you for contacting Activision Customer Support.
It's always nice to hear from our customers, and we appreciate your interest.
In response to your question, make sure that you are using the same Xbox 360/Live profile that you started the game with. Choosing a new profile will reset your game progress and your saves will be gone. If you continue having problems try playing the game with the Xbox 360 offline. Sign out of Xbox Live before playing the game.
I would like you to go through some questions about your game and xbox and answer them as completely as possible. It will help us diagnose your problem more easily.
Is your profile on the Memory Unit or the Hard drive?
Is your profile live-enabled? Have you tried creating a new profile?
Have you connected your 360 to the internet yet?
What was the last mission you played before you had this issue? Does it always happen on the same mission?
Were you in the middle of the stage and exited, or did you beat the stage?
If you beat the stage, what option did you choose at the victory screen? I.E. Continue | Next Mission | Mission Select Menu | Quit
When you sign in into your profile for Single Player, is it different then the profile you use for Multiplayer?
Have you tried deleting the problematic profile, and creating a new one? Note: As opposed to creating a new profile, and leaving the old one active.
If you select Resume Game instead of Mission Select, where does it take you?
Do you have any other 360 games that are having this issue?
I look forward to your response.
Customer 12/03/2005 03:19 PM
In response to your questions:
Is your profile on the Memory Unit or the Hard drive? Hard Drive
Is your profile live-enabled? Have you tried creating a new profile? Yes my profile is live enabled and I had created a new profile for a friend to play on.
Have you connected your 360 to the internet yet? Yes
What was the last mission you played before you had this issue? Does it always happen on the same mission? I had just started the British campaign and I've only played once so I don't know if it happens on the same mission.
Were you in the middle of the stage and exited, or did you beat the stage? Beat the Stage
If you beat the stage, what option did you choose at the victory screen? Next Mission and then I tried Mission Select Menu and it just went back to training.
When you sign in into your profile for Single Player, is it different then the profile you use for Multiplayer? No
Have you tried deleting the problematic profile, and creating a new one? No
If you select Resume Game instead of Mission Select, where does it take you? Back to the training mission.
Do you have any other 360 games that are having this issue? No
Response (Lawrence Watthey) 12/03/2005 03:23 PM
Hello and thanks for getting back to me.
Please try deleting your profile and generating a new one.
Give that a go and let me know if you continue to have any problems with the game.
Thank you for your patience and support, and please let us know if we can be of further assistance.
Customer 12/03/2005 09:52 PM
I tried creating a new profile and I got to the same mission and it just went back to training once again.
So far that is all I've gotten out of them. If I find out any more I'll let you guys know.

He emailed me back and said "Please try returning the game to the place of purchase for a new copy." This is such B.S.

HA HA HA what losers!!!! Return the gasme for a new one???? IT wouldn't be just a copy issue if more than 1 person is complaining of exactly the same thing, it has to be a programming issue or print issue...
I am still on the British campaing so I hope I don't go thru this
-
Here's whats been working for me:
Say you beat half the game and you put in another disc, are playing on a different profile, etc. When you go back to CoD2 make sure that you are already using the profile that you want. If you switch the profile on the CoD2 menu (or as far as I know at any point during the game), you are screwed. So again, start the game with the profile that you want to use, if you accidentally load the game with your lil' bro's profile; go back to the dashboard and change profiles there. Hope this helps.
-
well I've always only used my xbox live profile... i'm the only person that plays on my box so I don't need other profiles... I was playing the next to last british mission and beat it then it took me back to trainning... I'm one mission away from that mission again... and i'll prolly have time to get through it again tonight... i'll let ya'll know if it does it again...
-
Be sure to select Save and Quit instead of Continue. From the main menu you can then select the next mission. Continue often takes me back to Russia.
-
Well the activision guy must have got mad cause now they have some other guy emailing be back. Anyway he told me this and it's pretty much what we already know:
Response (Pramit Patel) - 12/05/2005 07:24 PM
1.) Create a new profile. Make it your default profile.
2.) Start the system up with the game inside, and it should load up your newly
created default profile.
3.) Switch to the problematic profile.
4.) Log this new profile off of XboxLive, then back on again.
5.) See if levels are restored.
If that profile does not work, try this:
Create a new profile. Then, play through the Moscow mission, and at the end,
select "Save and Quit" instead of "Next Mission", or "Continue". Then, select
your next level out of Mission Select. Only use Mission Select.
So anyway that pretty much doesn't help me or the rest of us out . However Legendary Badass's tips have been working for me. Just make sure the profile you want to play with is signed in before you start the game and don't change profiles in the game... just exit the game and go to the xbox guide and change it.
-
It restarted my game after I beat the Russian Campaign and started the British campaign. Now I choose "Save and Quit" after every mission so that im sure it saves.
Edit: Although i find this makes ur skills better, lol. Having to do it over makes you better and in reponse to losing my saves, I beat it in 1 day.
-
I'm pretty sure most peoples issues are not disc related. I eventually got mine to start saving by selecting save and quit every time and also making sure I am signed in before the game starts. Also make sure not to change profiles in the game.

Ok, I was always signed in
I only have 1 profile
This issue cannot be a user issue, if so many peopel are reporting this how cna we all be idiots?
Activivision is so unhelpful, and in the end they wanted me to delete my profile and start new, which would have cost me all my other saved game progress. I WILL NEVER BUY ACTIVISON PRODUCTS AGAIN
See nelow there stupid responses
Customer 12/12/2005 12:36 PM
Is your profile on the Memory Unit or the Hard drive?
-Hard Drive
Is your profile live-enabled? Have you tried creating a new profile?
-Live enabled, not created new profile since i do not wish to play thru half the game again
Have you connected your 360 to the internet yet?
-Yes
What was the last mission you played before you had this issue? Does it always happen on the same mission?
The last British mission, and yes happens all the time
Were you in the middle of the stage and exited, or did you beat the stage?
-I beat the stage
If you beat the stage, what option did you choose at the victory screen? I.E. Continue | Next Mission | Mission Select Menu | Quit
-I have beat this mission 4x and tried, continue, next mission and save/quit then select mission
When you sign in into your profile for Single Player, is it different then the profile you use for Multiplayer?
-NO
Have you tried deleting the problematic profile, and creating a new one? Note: As opposed to creating a new profile, and leaving the old one active.
-No, since I would lose all my other save games
If you select Resume Game instead of Mission Select, where does it take you?
-Russian Mission
Do you have any other 360 games that are having this issue?
-No just yours
In addition to answering the above questions, please try these solutions:
1.) Create a new profile. Make it your default profile.
2.) Start the system up with the game inside, and it should load up your newly created default profile.
3.) Switch to the problematic profile.
4.) Log this new profile off of XboxLive, then back on again.
5.) See if levels are restored.
-NO
If that profile does not work, try the following:
Create a new profile. Then, play through the Moscow mission, and at the end, select "Save and Quit" instead of "Next Mission", or "Continue". Then, select your next level out of Mission Select. Try only using Mission Select to proceed
-Nothing changes
Response (Rhett Chassereau) 12/12/2005 12:00 PM
Hi,
If that's the case, then your profile's former progress may be lost. Try this then. Create a new profile. Then, play through the Moscow mission, and at the end, select "Save and Quit" instead of "Next Mission", or "Continue". Then, select your next level out of Mission Select. Only use Mission Select.

I am having a problem with COD2 and from reading in forums allot of other people are too. After completing the Bristish campaign the games starts back on the Russian campaign. So I exited and tried to start the USA, but its locked. So I played the last mission on the Brisitsh campaign again and finished it, but againi it takes me straight to Russa and will not unlock USA. Is my copy detective?

This is a work around... hope it helps you fellas...
http://forums.xbox-s...dpost&p=3109099

There's a work around...
Um, I just spent 60 bucks on a game. I'm not going to settle for a work around, I want to experience the game the way it was intended. So if you have a faulty COD2, I encourage you all to return that sh*t and exchange it for a fresh copy.
My question is: What are the chances you'll get a working copy? The work around is unacceptable to a consumer. Some people might settle for that, but its just bad business. I personally will refuse to settle for a defective game. That's just me though.
-
In regards to saving I myself have been reading all the problems with saving so I've been very careful on how I save.
First - I insert the game into the 360 before turning it on. I noticed that it takes a lot longer to get your saved game in the main menu when you go to the x-box dashboard then directly going into the game itself.
Second - I make sure that my Gamertag gets connected online
Third - I make sure that I go into "resume mission". Sometimes this option does not appear it only shows "single player" and "multiple players" so I wait till the "resume mission" icon shows up. If it takes too long then I go into multiple player so that it can register my gamertag since the 360 assumes that I'll be going online, then I go back to the main screen and the "resume mission" icon appears. This I've done ablut four times and it has work all 4 times.
Fourth - The way I save the game is simply by hitting "save and exit" I do not save after every mission, I only save while I'm on a mission and plan on taking a break so I "save and exit". It works
Fifth - The other thing that I'm avoiding is not letting no one else (e.g. younger brother ) play the game as another profile or anything like that to ensure that it does not overide my previous save game.
So far I'm half way in the American Capings and have had no issues, the only issue is that sometimes in the main menu it does not have the "resume mission" icon so I do step 3 (above).
Hope this helps,
