Never had the problem befor. Try ripping the same CDs with Cdex:
http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/
dvd2xbox uses their ripping engine which reports also the length of the actual files.
Is there something special with the CDDA you're trying to rip ? Which version of dvd2xbox do you use ? Which dvd drive do you have buildin ?

This is slightly off topic but, Is there a way to rip a cd and have the names of the songs added automatically?  <

It's not nice to hijack threads :-)
However if the network is enabled dvd2xbox gets the song names from cddb and names the mp3/ogg/wav files according to it.  <

i am using dvd2xbox v0.5.9. its happened with a few of my cds, i dont think there is anything special about them. they are regular audio cds purchased from the store, and i am unsure of the exact model of the drive. its a v1.6 xbox purchased about 3 months ago with the stock cd drive. my hdd however is a 120 gb WD, unsure of exact model #.  <
