MS: What do YOU want to see on Xbox Live Arcade?Posted by XanTium | May 19 15:17 EST | News Category: Xbox360 |
| |
From the Microsoft's Games Global Marketing team blog:
Do you have a favorite game that you just can't wait to see on Xbox LIVE Arcade? Is there some feature that you wish more Xbox LIVE Arcade games offered? (i.e. a specific game-play mode?) Are there non-game features that you'd like XBLA (the destination) to implement? Lastly, are there events or promotions that you wish were a regular occurrence on XBLA? We want to hear your ideas! Please share your thoughts in the comments of this entry.
Don't limit yourself to past console games, current game-play features, or events/promotions you've seen elsewhere. Think of games that fit the "pick-up-and-play" promise of XBLA. Think of non-game features that make XBLA a more enjoyable place to download and play those games, in general.

2 games to be put on....
Golden eye
Quake 2 or 3 Arena
only mulitplayer modes btw
-
How about something simple. Two player Ms Pac man and a two player Donkey Kong series. WTF is up with making Ms Pac Man 1 player but having it say there are two?
-
Marvel VS Capcom!
-
$5 Coin-Op Classics are
always usually a great idea. I see that Track & Field is on the horizon -- I can't wait to break my controller with that one.
I'd like to see more multiplayer board games like Catan. Zombies would be my first choice. However, these aren't really "pick-up-and-play", as they take some time. In that regard, I'd like to be able to save games and come back to them later with the same group of people (I believe you could do that with Mario Party).
Simple sports games like Bad News Baseball would also be great.
-
Death Tanks!!! From Duke Nukem. I could and did play that game forever except I lost the a/v outputs on my saturn and pretty much just gave up.
-
speedball 2 on live sounds good
supersprint loved that game
arkanoid
quake 3 arena would be awsome
-
Mortal Kombat II
-
Another World and ELITE (but elite i want amiga version, not nes/pc or other version)
and i want price drop and a different selection menu' for the game whit the letter A-B-C in the top of the dashboard and not the ROW from A to Z...

Golden eye
Exactly what I was going to say!. That game was awesome on 2 player splitscreen deathmatch so imagine what it would be like playing a few friends over live!, perfect!
. I'd really love to see that game on the marketplace. Apart from that I want more free stuff for having a gold subscription, like gamer pics and maybe the odd coin-op arcade game once every couple of months.
-
Tic-Tac-Toe
-
CRIMSONLAND!!!!
or
GISH!!!!
-
PONG!!
E.T. from the atari 2600
i would love it if sega would make an emulator for the saturn & mega cd and we could use our original cd's...

I want a standalone game like WoW's Battlegrounds.
You don't level up or anything like that. Instead, everyone is of the same level, beginning and forever. However, you are able to earn points as you play, that unlocks skills/spells/attacks, and armor/weapon upgrades. Perhaps there would be ranks that would gain in addition to the unlocks, that would segregate you into equal-rank games.
You create a character -- multiple races, classes, etc. Name him/her, and start playing. That's it. No leveling up/grinding/raiding. Just all out, fun balanced pvp.
Doubt this could work as a XBL title, but I'd pay 60 bucks for it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
Perhaps even a standalone game similar to the Hero Wars series of mods for Warcraft 3. DoTA works well also. These would be perfect for the Live Arcade enviroment.
Also, I'd love a remake (graphics and sound, and perhaps gameplay tweaks) of the NES's Bionic Commando and Strider games.

I'd like to see old classics like StarControl and Warcraft II. Anyone remember that PC game from LucasArts called 'The Dig' ? That'd be killer.
-

it Paynes me to think that in 10-15 years we will be downloading games like gow and graw in the live arcade
-
How about Halo/Halo 2 recompiled to run natively without emulation and with achievements.
-
Power stone 1 and 2, with online play.

Power stone 1 and 2, with online play.
+1
I forgot about Power Stone. Those games were alot of fun. I remember beating the crap out of my lil bro and our neighbors lol.
-
Tyrian!

I want to make one off purchases of live points with my Switch/Maestro debit card. I dont want my card to be permanately linked to my console, and I certainly dont want to use a credit card.
Not live arcade but how about getting a major uk high street retailer to stock live points. eg Woolworths(they stock your competitors points) Everytime I want live points I have a battle to find somewhere with them in stock. I just want to able to walk in off the street and make an impulse decision to buy points.
Live arcade title prices to decrease over time. Then we can choose when is the right time to buy
-
the simpsons arcade game
battletoads
base wars
nba jam
chu chu rocket
-
Xenon ... infact most games by the Bitmap Brothers were cool back in the days ... (showing my age now ..)

Absolutely, DN3D is a timeless classic. I would log many hours if they included multiplayer. NBA Jam Tournament Edition would be pretty sweet as well.

PERFECT DARK!!!!!!!!!
Why they haven't done this already is beyond me.
QUOTE(mlapaglia @ May 20 2007, 12:12 PM)

i like the golden eye, but doesn't Nintendo have rights to that?
Isn't there some crap about EA owning the rights to James Bond though? All the more reason to just do Perfect Dark.
Metal Slug also, come on! There's six games alone they could charge 800 points for.
-
QUOTE(moogster66 @ May 20 2007, 12:58 PM)

More than half the games mentioned here can be played on a modded Xbox. Why would you pay anything for any of this stuff? I can see some good revamps in quake 2 or 3, and Halo running in true widescreen and hd would be very nice. You can play the PC versions of Duke Nukem, and even Shadow Warrior on a modded Xbox! And with all the great emulators, you can play just about anything. I personally would buy a used Xbox (not giving MS another profit!) and mod it. The games on the 360 are great, and hd is awesome! But for game fuctionality, I'll take my TRUSTED ol' Xbox!
Not all emu games run well on a modded xbox1. I know most N64 games (golden eye for example) run like crap compared to the original. Also some of us like to replay old games to gain achievements
. There's also the added features you get from Live like leaderboards and online play. Not everyone has or knows how to mod an xbox 1 to emulate old systems.
-
Stop crying about being banned, you knew what the consequences would be.
Team Buddies (Excellent PS1 game which would have a brilliant online multiplayer)
Quake 3 Arena
Fur Fighters
Duke Nukem: Time to Kill (Or any DN game for that matter!)
Urban Chaos
-
sunset riders
raiden II
aero fighters 3
all the metal slugs
marvel vs capcom
marvel vs capcom 2
that simpsons arcade game
goldeneye
perfect dark
x-men arcade game
xevious
free games
exchange unlocking achievements and gamerscore points for MS points to buy these games.

How bout a certain third party media player distributed freely over xbox live arcade.... I know it'd have to be pretty locked down for them to allow it... but c'mon it would still be cool. What about a make your own RPG game that you could invite people to come in and play. Use all your friends names and stuff? That would be pretty cool. How bout a HD music visualization game? One that kicks the shit out of G-force because it can afford pay people to develop? Make it interactive? Kind like a four second fury game/meets geometry wars set to the music from your music library? C'mon, people. Let's think outside of the box here. Goldeneye is great and all... but we did that already... like 10 years ago.
-
2D Halo
SFA3
Metal Slug
Simpsons
I find it funny to hear all the crying over the bans.
-

Thats what I'm saying! Considering Duke Nukem Forever will never be coming out....
A great site to check out for any Duke3D fan that still has their copy of Duke3D.
http://hrp.duke4.net/
I'd like to see more original IP's like Aegis Wing, Assault Heroes, Geometry Wars, and Alien Hominid(yes, I know this game was on last gen systems) and those type of games. Old style gameplay, but next-gen.
-
SNES games
Super Star Wars
Super The empire strikes back
Super Return of the Jedi
Indiana Jones and his greatest adventures
-
Keep the posts on topic. If you need somewhere to cry about being banned, try your mommies shoulder, not this thread.
-
I'd like to see some interface changes. For one, give me faster menu interface. When playing a fast-paced multiplayer game where you only have 2-3 seconds between rounds, I'd like to be able to leave feedback, check the detailed achievement description, etc. Waiting on those blades takes forever!
I'd also like to see Microsoft step in and help control pricing schemes more. 800 points for solitaire? That's not even a maybe. There's no way I'd even consider that. On the other hand, I gladly paid 800 for SotN. I thought I got TMNT at a -cheap- price.
I've also been a fan of the free games that MS has given us. It saddens me that there have only been two live arcade games given for free thus far. Again, I don't feel like I'm just another whining kid begging for more free stuff. This last free one obviously was designed to promote XNA. But in addition to that, every time a valuable freebie is given (read: not advertisement gamerpics) it makes me appreciate the system even more. I can go to a friend that plays on a PS3 or Wii and boast about how I got a free T-shirt, an arcade game, and a retail game for free simply by playing my 360. When a company does things to make the customer feel appreciated, it makes me more inclined to buy from that company. Kudos to Microsoft for turning me into a true fan.
To that note, why not throw up some more challenges on the rewards site? We've already (finally) gotten the prizes from the only challenge up there. Give us another XNA game, or heck, I'd take an exclusive gamerpic for a small challenge.
Microsoft talked about the possibility of having an arcade section for non-localized foreign games. That would open up a world of classic games (pun not intended). Something like that would really make me happy.
I'd also love to see more XNA work delivered to non-subscribers (Especially considering it's a hassle to compile it on your PC, plus you don't get achievements.)
Now that the PC is getting achievements, why not give us WM6 users some arcade games? I'd give up my DS if I could get achievements on my PDA!
-
cps1 games. I'd pay GOOD money to play old school games online. like cadillacs and dinosaurs, the punisher, alien vs predator, etc.
WHO IS WITH ME !!!!
-
Samurai Shodown 2 (my main request)
Daytona USA (with FFB wheel support)
Virtua Fighter 2
Mortal Kombat 1&2
and yes, Goldeneye
Plus any and all Neo Geo games, WITH online multiplayer. Hell, I think all of the above games should have online multiplayer. An 800 point Daytona USA would give Forza a run for it's money as far as number of players, and would fit well within the XBLA size limit.
-
Starfox, Sinistar and BurgerTime!!
-
How about...
community content?
Really, it's time. MSFT has been keeping XNA games bottled up. Their authors should be allowed to release them to the general public. For free if they wish, and if the authors want payment, they must pay a small percentage of proceeds to Microsoft. It'd be great PR.
-
Vision Cam stuff that uses gesture recognition etc, much like the old eye toy games
-
Paying for an old-school arcade game is asinine, imo, but an online MvC2 would make an honest gamer out of me.
-
Virtua Fighter2
Ikaruga
-
could you imagine what a Goliath halo 1 multilayer would be on arcade? charge like 20 bucks for it or something. wowza. i know halo 3 is coming out but make halo 1 very easy, cheap, and accessible.
-
I don't know about you guys but I am 25 years old, and I would like Xbox Live Arcade not only to offer new game titles but to take us back to the by gone era.
I'm talking Spectrum, NES, SNES....every single game that had that special something that makes us remember them to this very day.
I for one love super mario, childhood favourite. I am sure Nintendo would allow MS to sell there older titles on Xbox Live Arcade.
Just a thought

All of thats already on the Wii and their Virtual Console.
-
I know this is owned by Nintendo but I WANT:
EARTHBOUND
remake or not, i still sit down and play this on my computer (through emulators) occasionally. Great game; i would wet my pants if MS ever announced this as an arcade title.
As for a more realistic approach:
Another Geometry Wars
Tetris Classic
Megaman
An MMO game of some sort (whether RPG or Arcade or whatever)
Starwars Arcade Game
Starcraft
-
Sewer Shark (not sure if its been mentioned already)
-
It seems that most of us prefer to play NES and SNES games to Wii games
