Official Xbox Mag's 5 Games Being Kept Secret
Posted by XanTium | March 13 21:28 EST | News Category: Xbox360

From the "press release" about the "5 biggest secret games" being developed for the Xbox360 - full details will be in the April issue of the US Official Xbox Magazine:
Quote

Agents Scully and Mulder are no match for the Xbox 360's "X-files" report. Only Official Xbox Magazine can declassify the five biggest games coming out for the console that "the man" doesn't want you to know about:

* 5: Hellgate: London- This action-RPG, in which a gate to Hell has ripped open in London in 2028, is filled with massive skill customization, paper-doll character tweakage and disturbingly addictive dungeon-crawling treasure hunts. The game is possibly being kept under wraps to let it bask in the Windows limelight for awhile.

* 4: Crimson Skies 2- The original, underdog Xbox game Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge is just popular enough to give a sequel the green light. Xbox 360 doesn't want you to know about the new game yet as a matter of timing; they need to keep some bullets in their chamber for next year.

* 3: Duke Nukem Forever- The 10-years-in-the-making sequel to the 1996 industry- defining hit Duke Nukem 3D can finally meet its goals now that technology is available that will help the game redefine first-person-shooter interactivity like its predecessor. Game developer 3D Realms is probably keeping it hush hush until they pin down a release date for the PC version.

* 2: Star wars: Knights Of The Old Republic III- Developer Bioware dropped the hammer on the rest of the RPG world when it made the original Knights of the Old Republic. The game is arguably one of the best Star wars video games and warrants a third installment in its series of follow-ups. Official Xbox Magazine has a sneaking suspicion that they are working on III, but aren't letting the cat out of the bag yet as not to derail hype for other current projects.

* 1: World of Warcraft: Azeroth Adventures- Eight million PC gamers paid $50 to own the original World of Warcraft, plus another $15/month to play it. Now, the Xbox 360 version is expected to be its own animal, not a pared down version of the PC game. It seems Microsoft will keep dumping cash on Blizzard's (the developer) doorstep until they agree to create a custom-built-for-360 version of the game. Rumor has it that it will debut for the 2008 holiday season

I would love to get a sequel of Crimson Skies, I loved the first one and it would be a perfect game to combat Warhawk on the PS3

It's obviously a joke. If DNF didn't completely tip you off, then I don't know how dense you can be.

I'm looking forward to KOTOR III the most, the first one was mgaical and i waould stay up all night playing it and i played trough the game 3.5 times. I hope that KOTOR will be Biowares project after Mass Effect, KOTOR II just didn't have as good of a story though it had all kinds of good extras.

Yeah. Duke nukem will hit the scene when neural net processors are the norm and only Holographic Lithography can meet the storage requirements the game will need.

Question isn't when DNF hits. Question is what sequels we'll see 3D Realms throw money into before it finally (if ever) brings on DNF. Anyone up for a Max Payne sequel on Xbox 360 hardware? Personally I've waited long and hard for a follow up to Terminal Velocity. Prey 2?

April Fools... even if unintentional.

Duke Nukem Forever = DNF. Also stands for Did Not Finish tongue.gif

That game had better be good if it comes, its probably the most hyped game EVER. Though WoW for 360? Never played it before, but wouldn't mind suttin to fill in all my time.

Terminal Velocity 2 would be mad. I loved that game. Just yesterday a friend and i were saying that Descent should come to the arcade. Its kinda similar.

Meh. This hellgate london sounds like doom, but the pom version tongue.gif

Be nice against HG:L its made by the makers of Diablo 1/2, so expect a great game.

The technology was always available. It just gets better. It takes forever to wait for the 'perfect' technology.

Duke Nukem Forever is dead. It would require extreme massive sales of the game to even get a profit out of it. Some people will still remember games such as Daikatana, and think that Duke Nukem Forever is crap once it hits the stores. Otherwise they would first get the game using the less legal way.

Or, when it finally comes out, they use Starforce copy protection, screwing up your PC's security. It'll take you forever to get rid of the Duke. dry.gif

[edit]
About their 'number 1'... I always think it's funny that lots of 'gamers' pay so much money for an enhanced, laggy chatbox. smile.gif

I was taking this seriously until I read the part about Duke Nukem Forever. Then I just took it as a hoax.

DNF is meant to not be finished. Its just one of those things in life that is the way it is and you dont question it.

Indeed. The game is almost as old as mankind. I wonder why they never found any drawings of Duke Nukem in some pre-stone age cavern...

WoW is OBVIOUSLY a joke for the 360! I mean, sure Command and Conquer is getting its 360 treatment, only because it wasn't as popular as most real-time shooters/RPG's on the PC. WoW is a PC god! 360 has no chance for WoW! And I don't play WoW! But I already know this a straight fact! rolleyes.gif

kotor 3 may be in development but it wouldn't be by bioware....  If they wanted to work on another game they'd be making Jade Empire 2, they don't own the IP for Kotor.

3D Realms (the makers of Duke Nukem, Max Payne, Prey, etc.) are privately held.  That means that they split the profits between their 8-15 man team.  You can look at their job application form, it says that you get a part of the profits as long as you work for the company.

With such hits as Max Payne and Prey and it's licensing deals, they have made plenty of money.

That's why they spent so much into DNF.  It's their baby and it is going to be amazing.  Of course, they would have to wait a little while for Vista to be released and DX10 to be out for a little while before releasing the game.  Why have the chance of a low Vista/DX10 user base during launch?

As for X360 and other platforms, they come after the PC release (since the code is most likely optimized from he start for x86PC).

I can't hold me excitement.

Hopefully KOTOR III will be completed before they release unlike KOTOR II.  The ending to that game sucked and it was obvious that they just stopped where they were so that it could be released along side the movie.

yea wow 360 is probly not gonna happon even bliz said so. they just didnt completly slam the door bascily said no but we might change are minds later. the reasion is the fact it is built for pcs/macs and made for a mouse and keybord i can only imagion the interface nightmers trying to use a 360 contoler in wow you defetnly would need a usb keybord and mouse. thats one of there reasions for not porting it. ff11 was built for a controler interface so it wasent a issue.

but it is a fact in pc gaming that game is god none can even counter with anything saying its not. the monthly fees do pay for there servers do you have any friggen clue how many servers for need to hold 8.4 million people let alone the massiv amount of bandwith. trust me there server bills are in the hight millions a month probly tiple digits they also constently upgrade those servers with top of the line server hardware constently and that kind of stuff is not cheap go price some busness class servers low end models are like 10k eatch and they buy the newest stuff thers probly cost more.  yes they do profit and im shure they make rather large profits but i would say at least 70% goes into the servers. but yea they do still make sevrel million take home.

only kids with no life play wow. you knoe the wow commuty in genrel are rather sick of that sterotype. its true that yes thers players like that hell i even knoe a few. but thers also a  very large number that do not play 24/7 i shure as hell dont and most of my frends dont as well. but thats why that game is such a huge hit is the fact you dont need to play 24/7 to get anywhere its built for both types of gamers. unlike other mmos like lets say ff11 where its only talerd to gold farmers and people with no life couse yes i played that horrid game and if you have a life you whont get anywhere in that game.

Umm, Cant see how thats stopping them but ok..... Many games that uses whole keyboard layout has been transfered to console... and the fact that the 360 can handle USB keyboard and mouse without problem makes it cake....

And btw they are not spending 70% of all the costs on the server... 30% tops, servers arent that expensive to run these days.
