Title: Microsoft Expands XBLA File Size to 250 MB

Why don't they just let us use external storage or make an adapter for the memory card slot that will take flash memory and be done with it.

n64 games almost all fit under the 50mb rule. And I doubt it anyway.

Now we definitely need a bigger HD. Does Ms even use their own equipment? They have to be annoyed by running out of hd space also.

make it as big as they want as far as I am concerned.  Just give us the option to delete them and redownload them in the future if we need since we already paid for them.

You can do that right now... infact you could do that way back when the 360 launched  rolleyes.gif

WTF? How could the 256 memory card be "oft-rumoured" if it was anounced at e3 last year!!! it was one of the peripherals at the show.

The dev kits use some huge 100+ gig HDDs. A n64 game would be way bigger on the 360 cause the download will have to also include the emu.

MS Just wants to make money, they don't care about what you want or don't want. They want total control of the environment. Thats why they use propriety.

WRONG! because MS is scared of piracy. So they rather make most everything propriety so that piracy isn't as easy as say....the ps3 rolleyes.gif

maybe if they just sold u a computer then u wouldn't complain, there is nothing proppriety about that and its also a haven for piracy.

Who really cares about the size of a game, we have almost 3 decades of great game that would use less than 50 megs of memory and what about all of the flash games avalible on the net that are fun and use a hell of alot less than 50 megs.

Why include emu's when you can do it right and make it native?

I would love to see revamped versions of the original Daytona(not the crap CCE edition), NiGHTS, Dragon Force and of course Radiant Silvergun.

please watch how you let your biased opinions effect what you say to other members.  yes money is a factor (to all companies) but there are also other reasons for microsoft's decisions.  standards, money, and piracy are the 3 main reasons microsoft has so much control over their system.  reading about sony's voided warranty scheme when using unofficial cables and peripherals makes me happy that microsoft enforces certified equipment.

Because then it would be too easy to copy stuff to other devices, even with the DRM.

We do not comment on rumor and speculation and so we can not confirm that rumor. Aside from the exception we granted for 'Castlevania: Symphony of the Night,' we have not announced any plans to alter the file size standard for Xbox Live Arcade games. However, adjusting the size limit is certainly an option in the future, and as always, we are listening to feedback both from gamers and developers on what will provide the best user experience...

It's funny how M$ always says they don't comment on rumor or speculation, and then they go ahead and comment on it.

I don't know of any people in the US with a limit these days.

You guys in america don't have download limits on ur internet yeah? It seems microsoft never takes that on board here. Here in aus, internet plans all have limits except for a very few rare ones. Im on 12gig a month, which can suck when its a good tv month for you guys (getting the eps from p2p). 450mb for an arcade game? If they used good compression, size wouldn't be such a problem. The XBLA games are meant to be small and easy to pickup for anyone. Things like small arms maybe cross the easy to pickup boundry, but now it looks like they're removing the 'small' boundry too. 450mb is a fair bit, the game had better be good if its that big...

well all hope is not lost, i have read rumors that there is talk of microsoft dividing XBLA into two sections.  one meant for the current smaller games, and the other for more fleshed out larger games.

Just release the bigger drive already!

People need to stop worrying so much.  They are lifting the limit which is mostly a good thing for most. But I am sure just because they lifted this limit we are not going to see 256KB arcade games going for 450MB left and right. It will be a few cases where already bigger games get beefed up for HD with some bonus features start hitting those limits.

I don't think this will have a profound effect on the size of most games.

$60 for 1/4th of a gb or $100 for a 20gb hard drive.  Sometimes not going to fly there...

The problem with death tank is you would need network support, as its a pure multiplayer experience. 3D Realms have real dev kits, so maybe we could ask them to port it commercially. On another note, with all this talk of Saturn games, I fired mine up last night and it proved that NiGHTS is screaming for a 360 makeover

Actually many providers do have limits, they just dont tell you about it.  I have a 10 megabit up and down fiber and decided to take advantage of it and one day they called me up saying I had used my 100 gig limit for the month and capped my speed until the beginning of the next.  Comcast in particular has "invisible" caps where they decide if you are downloading too much and will call you and tell you to stop.  It isn't a specific number, just whatever they want it to be. dry.gif  Linky
